Wilson might turn out, but we will see.
Hard to comment, Bullseye.

We really haven't seen this team play yet.
So what's Taylor's status? Anyone heard anything?
It's strange. I haven't watched any of the first game and only about the first half of the second game. There hasn't been much reason to, but that really isn't like me. I used to watch every second of every preseason game regardless of the score. I loved the roster battles of the bubble players. I knew every player on the roster going into camp. Now it's not like that. I'm just not into it as much. I don't know why.
We used to play the starters for a couple of series in every preseason game minus the 4th. Right now we don't know who all the starters will be and the proven starters haven't played a single snap yet in a live game. Aside from the whining over pointless games, it's hard to talk about much else. The main thing is we aren't dealing with key injuries and trying to fill voids like last year. At least if anyone goes down this year hopefully it's in a meaningful game. The other part is that after last year where we had super bowl aspirations it was a huge disappointment and I think the fan base is in a state of not sure whether we'll field a team that's worth getting excited about or not.

To me, at this point, why would either guy be the starting?

Unless Cam and Taylor are somehow not healthy enough to get even limited reps in a preseason game, I don't see the point.

Meanwhile, speaking of rookies starting, Marrone had this to say...

Quote:*Jaguars Head Coach Marrone said he would be willing to start drafted rookies such as linebacker Quincy Williams and tight end Josh Oliver in the regular-season opener even if they have played no preseason games. Williams (knee) and Oliver (hamstring) have missed both games. The two third-round selections were projected to play key roles, with Williams working with the starters throughout the on-field portion of the offseason program and early in camp, and Oliver also working with the first-team often during that time. “I think you’re going to put them in there if they give you the best chance to win,” Marrone said. “If they don’t perform well, then you go to Plan B and get someone else in there right away and move on from there.” Marrone added that wouldn’t be the ideal scenario. “I don’t think anyone’s OK with a guy that’s never really played before,” he said. “I think you’re always going to question what’s going to happen, what’s it going to be like … but sometimes you have to put what you feel are the best players put there.” Marrone said both players are on schedule in their rehabilitation.

Well, they are starting because Cam and Taylor are hurt but it’s pretty crazy we can’t even find suitable backups. I’ve seen them both get absolutely mauled in preseason so... eh.. seems pretty risky throwing Foles out there against another teams first team.
Also different when your starting C, and guards are out there. They can help out the tackles. But when everyone is a 3rd or 4th string everyone looks bad.

You mean guard. Only difference will be Norwell and Linder.
These first 2 preseason games have just been a teal JV team against everyone else's varsity then it became a teal practice squad team against everyone else's JV.

I agree here completely.
I want to start a topic about batted balls. I have now, for a while. More on D. Less on O- Cant someone coach these Olinemen to punch defenders when they look to swat a pass so that they cant get so vertical as to bat a ball? And by punch, I mean push them back with great aggression, mid takeoff.

OK, Here it is. Now I dont have to start a topic for this nugget. For this little golden tidbit. Thanks Bullseye!
Sorry that I'm not posting as much (and seem negative). Having to re-entrench my skills to stay relative in the IT World. My free time has been reduced. The NFL preseason has really become beyond meaningless. It use to be fun to see the coaches work on somethings and integrate the teams plans for the young players. I don' t know how they fix it during the next CBA. I use to think the 18 game season would be better but I don't know how the players could hold up to the extra 2 games.

I'm with you, not sure if it's apathy, getting older and having other priorities, or what. I'll watch Thursday, ready to see some Foles...then when they leave...off it goes.
I struggled to get excited for this year in the summer but when camps opened and stuff was actually happening, I was ready.

It's been tough as the 2 games haven't been great. I get the strategy and I'm sure in a month or so time welll be calling Marrone a genius or an idiot but I think it's hard to have a lot to be super motivated about. Judging 30 or so backups, fighting for around maybe 5-10 spots and maybe practice squad. Again not criticizing, just saying it's not the first thing you want after the 9 month drought.

I'm excited for Foles, cant wait to see this O and D.
I'm still in off season mode, I know it's around the corner but I guess since we haven't seen the starters it doesn't fell like the season is kicking off soon.
I feel we'll have a lot to talk about after Thursday, good or bad. It's time to reveal a little identity about this team.
The only real surprising scratch for the game is Dareus.

We’re maturing as a fan base. Especially after the 2017 and 2018 seasons. We’re adopting a more seasoned ‘wait and see’ approach. We’ve become middle aged.
Now turn down that music, comb your hair for god’s sake, and get a job.

Ahh, for the days when people used to be scandalized when the stadium wasn't full for a preseason game.
