We did support the WFL Champion Birmingham Americans pretty well in the 70s....
I agree with pretty much all the above locations but you're crazy if you think Jerry Jones would let the NFL put a team in Oklahoma or another team in Texas.

I'm curious about states like South/North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Iowa.... The Hawkeyes seem to do pretty well and maybe they could support a pro team too.

I recently vacationed to Montana and Wyoming... I'd prefer those places to be untouched by the NFL and humans in general lol

Living in Pensacola... I'd welcome a team to Birmingham.
Hell if Mobile wasn't such a [BLEEP] town that'd be a good landing spot with the Mobile/Pensacola TV markets actually being in the top 60 and Pensacola is growing faster and faster every year with the Navy Federal Credit Union taking over and Quint Studer taking over and making Pensacola (we're starting to call it Studerville) a viable place for businesses and cleaning up a lot of the poor neighborhoods.
Some areas west and north of Pensacola certainly have the space for a stadium as it is expanding.....
It's a pipe dream to think Pensacola would ever have something so cool though...
Also, post-Katrina this is Saints country through and through. Would be a tough sell.

But we'll always have our UWF Argos!
-.-

Good song.

Wasnt there a study showing new stadiums dont usually bring the return on investment for cities as hoped?  Always something to consider if the city of jax was asked to fork over cash to support a new stadium.

Probably. I would imagine it's no different than buying a brand new car or brand new boat. It'll just depreciate in value as the years go on. The problem with our case though is the give and take with the yearly "Is this team moving to London or "X" city" topic. You can never rule that out of the argument.

Personally I hate the location of our stadium. Never been a fan of navigating through Downtown Jacksonville. I am sure it has it's charm for some people and I know there's been a recent push over the years to liven it up a bit. But I still can't stand navigating through there.
I'd rather see a team set up in Toronto/Montreal if they are trying to globalize the footprint. In the US: San Antonio, Birmingham, St. Louis (3x the charm?), OKC, or maybe even Omaha (# 69 largest TV market in the country.....nice).
I bet St Louis would love to welcome the bolts , payback can be fun ....Memphis too.
I expect the raiders to really expand their fan base once they get to vegas ....
raider nation is all over anyway , what can be more fun than going to vegas, gambling and dressing like it's Halloween?

I also think jacksonville and Khan will continue working with the stadium we have.
Does TIAA Bank Field have the staying power of your historic football fields like Soldier and Lambeau? I suppose it could if we actually start winning. I dont know where you would even put a new stadium.

In technical terms it does. It's large footprint makes it ideal for renovation rather than replacement, kind of similar as to what they did with the Gator Bowl in 1994 (though you could argue that was essentially a replacement). What The Bank needs most of all right now is a roof, 1PM starts used to be a great advantage to the team but having 65k fans baking in the September Florida heat simply isn't sustainable anymore.

Quote: Lamping and Jaguars owner Shad Khan’s desire to shield fans from the heat and sun at the stadium is well known. That issue was raised in a January panel discussion hosted by Northbank and Southbank residents group The Downtown Dwellers.

[He reiterated Monday that the east side of the stadium is particularly vulnerable to the sun.

At least they are aware. The question is who will pay for it?

On that matter I'd say to the people in Duval; bend over, grit your teeth, and don't let them see you cry.

Yes Thanks...ivery timely article. It appears with the plans for Lot J and The Shipyards to be 2.5 billion...that there is really no choice to keep the stadium and the Jaguars right there....
and tend to the improvements that are on "the list".

I think the quickest and probably most cost-effective way of dealing with the sun would be to have a large blimp positioned to shade the stands. It would only need to be there for day games, could move to adjust the shade as the sun moved, and may find an additional revenue stream at other times to defray the cost.
