Full Version: Phillip Rivers: end of the road?

It’s looking more and more like the ‘04 QB class is nearing it’s end; Amidst Big Ben’s continued injury issues, Eli’s benching, and Rivers’ massive struggles this year.

That being said, I wanted to focus on one of them specifically: Phillip Rivers. Do you think there’s any future for the long time Charger? Rivers has always been a favorite of mine, I’ve always loved the way that’s he’s played.(despite his lack of postseason success)

His contract is up this year. Does anyone bite on the grizzled old vet? I would think potential options could be Denver, Tampa or Carolina. I would rule out Chicago because of his lack of arm strength, don’t think it would be a good fit.

Any thoughts?
He will retire.

Yeah he didn't even want to move to LA. Not sure he wants to move somewhere and be a backup.

Pretty crazy. It's already been 15 years just like that. He had a good run if this is it for him. I could see him in Denver though if they decide to move on.

Roethlisberger won't finish his career on IR though. Curious to see if Rooney parts ways with Tomlin in the off season. But he's not done with the Steelers just yet.

Manning is more than likely done. The Giants have no reason to maintain him. He could try his luck down in Miami, Chicago or Denver next year if he also thinks he's got another year in him.

You all may be right.. he certainly may retire. But I don’t think he will, I also think that if he does land somewhere, he will start. Guess we’ll see.
I swear the chargers are good but Rivers always costs them with the bone head ints they come in bunches with him too.

I remember the Jags Chargers game in 2017 he did the same thing.. man the atmosphere at that game was unreal.

All the fans left when Bortles threw his 2nd 4th quarter INT with like 2 mins remaining, but we still had all 3 timeouts so I stuck around.. glad I did too. All 5,000 fans that stayed got to watch an awesome overtime win at the bank. Best game ever.
I look for Manning and Rivers both to retire at season's end. Big Ben will return in 2020, but the Steelers have some major deficiencies that need to be addressed and he'll never be the same player. I look for Roethlisberger to stick around, but no more than 3 years.
Said he wants to go to Tennessee lol

We would never beat the tacks again until he retired. Our pathetic defense would get picked apart by a savvy bet with a noodle for an arm. Great.

My thought is why do people like this guy? He's like Peyton Manning, a stat collector, but not much of a winner. Acts like a jerk on the field, and throws a ton of ints, especially at the end of games.
I’d like to see Manning go down to Miami for one more go at it. Same with Rivers, I’d like to see him up in Denver for one last shot at a title.
