Oh God! Don't read this thread Ronster!
Oh I think they knew what they were likely getting in Foles, but they also knew their sets were getting very warm. They chose trying to save their jobs over the good of the franchise.

Been saying this for a while now.
I prefer Minshew but I can't help but feel bad for Nick Foles. He is a really nice guy and I can think he can deliver decent QB play (and sometimes really good QB play), if he has the right setup around him. This whole situation is a bit of a mess. I do feel like Nick is getting a lot more blame/ire than he deserves. He hasn't looked very good, but I don't think believe his play is the biggest problem with this team. I think that the way that the defense is playing and coaching are bigger problems. And I do wonder if the coaching staff brought Nick back a bit too early. I think he could be a bit shaky/rusty.

I think that the coaching staff is going to stick with him until at least the end of the season. (Barring injury). I hope he plays better, I think that it's a chance he might. Next week would be a good opportunity for that against Tampa. But the team has to step up and help him. The defense has been playing really poorly. Next week is an opportunity for them to bounce back, against Jameis, who has thrown 20 interceptions this year. They need to get some more from him next week.

One of the interesting things about this situation is that I thought that the team might rally around Nick. Because of the way they were acting when they heard he would return as the starting QB. Some of the players especially the veteran ones like Calais Campbell were really hyping up Nick. Calais was on First Take saying stuff like if Nick had played the whole year he would have been an MVP candidate. There was another player who said they were glad that Nick was back. They were acting as if they had played with Nick for years and that they really trusted/believed in him.

It didn't seem like some of them were even talking about what Gardner had did for them, they were so focused on being happy that Nick was back/playing for him. And then he comes back, they don't play well, and elevate their games for him. It's something. So far they have played with more energy with Minshew, even though some of them were acting like they preferred/trusted Nick more.

I do wonder how some of the younger players felt about the switch like DJ Chark/Josh Allen. I don't know if they really commented on the switch (maybe they did, but I didn't recall reading any comments from them). The Jags account on Twitter posted a video a few weeks ago from the Jets game. It was after Minshew had threw his third touchdown to DJ Chark, after he had escaped trouble again. Minshew goes over to talk with Josh and DJ and DJ looks at him and says something like "I have to admit you got me hyped up with that one." And DJ, Josh, Minshew seemed excited/happy/optimistic. So at the least some of the younger players admitted to being pumped up by Minshew's play. Truth be told, I think that at least some of the veterans were as well/also defensive players. I did read somewhere that one of the players said that the defense liked playing hard for Minshew.

That being said I hope that Nick and the team fare better next week. I prefer Minshew, but I don't want to see Nick get more blame than he deserves and still want to see the team play well.

One thing I have definitely learnt over the years is to never put any stock in what players say. It is meaningless. They are trained about how to answer questions the right way. This goes for our team and every other team in the league.

Exactly. I can't feel sorry for Nick Foles. He's a lot more well off than most people. And he's a classic overachiever that got paid to be something that he's not here in Jacksonville by a desperate front office and coaching staff.

I only feel sorry for this fan base. And I only feel especially sorry for the long standing season ticket holders here that have been trying to keep their seats warm since 1995 or at any point in general. I can't say it enough. You know who you are.

Thank you all for sacrificing your hard earned income and putting in the effort and time to be there for this city and it's franchise. It's beyond [BLEEP] admirable. Love you all. Even if I haven't met you. You have my utmost respect. And without you all this city doesn't have a team.

I just hope someday they get this ship turned around and they bring us just one Superbowl title before we start losing some of you folks. It's a pisser man. Truly is.

Yeah, but that's one reason, I like him better than other people do. And I appreciate him for the way he mentored/supported Minshew. There are veteran QB's in this league that would not have mentored Minshew as willingly as Nick did. Especially with all of the attention that Minshew was getting when he was playing. I remember some like Flacco who did not want to mentoring their young backup QB's (potential successors). I do appreciate Nick doing that, even knowing that a lot of fans were falling in love with Minshew/preferred Minshew to him. I do believe that his mentoring helped Minshew.

Regardless, though if continues Nick not to play very well and the team continues to lose, he will be held accountable. And he should be. (Though, I probably won't be as critical of him as others, especially if things like the defense giving up a ton of points continues to happen).

I said a few weeks ago, that Nick should be expected to win more games than Gardner. And that it wasn't unreasonable to expect him to win at least 5 out of the last seven games. (I didn't expect him to run the table, though that would have been nice.) He is a veteran QB with more experience, has almost the same amount of games to play as GM, had healthy players coming back, and I think has an easier stretch of the schedule. So I believe he should win more games than Minshew. Though, that will go out of the window next week if the team loses to Tampa. He will only be able to tie his win total then and may not even end up doing that. Things could end up getting even rougher, especially regarding fans and their attitudes about him/this team, if he ends up with less wins than Gardner. And his play doesn't really improve during these last games. I hope he and the team perform better.

This stat really says it all about the guy: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-an...tions-2018

No surprises.  Just another OH WELL moment from fans.  Hopefully we get 2 studs in the 1st this coming year and actually have one of those be an OL or TE.  Tired of passing on good talent, only to see them excel on other teams and debate about why we didnt go that route for x player.

That's an odd statement considering he's known for his pass completion percentage in a positive sense.

You should read the article in the first post of the thread regarding what failed completions are.
He needs a better surrounding cast, nobody thought we were getting a prime Tom Brady. But he has been a major disappointment here, if he can’t pass on Tampa it is time to bring in the stache.
Couple of things here.

- If they would have stuck with Minshew, it shows this front office made an 88 million dollar mistake.

- They are sticking with Foles because of the money, and to see what they have in him moving forward

- They are playing with fire, because they are showing no respect or loyalty to Minshew. Bc he’s eventually going to be the staring QB for this team.

- I don’t care if the players are admitting to it or not but I can guarantee the locker room is split because of this situation.

- If they don’t do what’s right and name Minshew the QB, then it could ruin relationships later down the line.

It seems like everybody knows who gives us the best chance to win, but like someone said earlier....ol douggie boy is playing for his job.

This front office has completely mishandled this.
If Foles lays another egg, then what? At what point is enough? If this coach keeps trotting Foles out there with 3 points to show at halftime, I promise me and my family won’t be back the rest of the year.

I did. I'm not buying it. It's another attribute you can put into Madden but that's about it.

Cousins would look like Blaine Gabbert with this organization.
They need to just name Minshew the starter and move on with life. Build around the kid.

He’s everything Baker Mayfield was supposed to be. Except without Landry, Beckham, Njoku, and Chubb.

Minshew’s attitude and personality is infectious and it breeds confidence in other teammates.
