Texans' Tashaun Gipson wants to be 'Grinch' to Titans

Tashaun Gipson and his Texans teammates may not have much to play for in Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans but the veteran safety still wants to win the game against their division rivals.

Tashaun Gipson and his Texans teammates may not have much to play for in Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans but the veteran safety still wants to win the game against their division rivals.

Well, good thing Gipson doesn't steer the ship.  I'm thinking that if Houston wins this game, both head coaches deserve to be fired, or at least reprimanded.  Here's my reasoning...

If Pittsburgh gets the 6th playoff spot, they are 1-&-done.  If the Titans get the 6th spot, they might not be. So, if I'm Houston, I let Tennessee win this Sunday without making it too obvious that I'm tanking.  I'd rest a ton of starters and also do as much as possible to make sure the Titans sustain no injuries. Then, I'd hope the Titans do as much damage as possible in the wildcard and divisional rounds.  Tennessee already beat KC once this year, and surviving that with enough luck they might even knock off Baltimore.  That means Houston would have to beat Buffalo (quite possible) and New England (also possible since they beat them once already this year) to set up a home game for the Conference Championship vs. Tennessee.

Houston should be very comfortable with that scenario.  They know the Titans.  They play them twice a year and they've already beaten them once this year.  This has to be the best possible outcome for Houston.

However, letting Pittsburgh in means that the most likely road to the Superbowl would be 1) hosting Buffalo, 2) at Baltimore, and 3) at New England.

Seems like a simple choice to me.  What does everyone else think?

I do believe that is the plan. GO TITANS!!!
