Many times I've heard people justifying it as society needs kids and we should encourage people to have them.
It's obvious that society needs kids. But I'm not sure those little tax incentives really cause more women to get pregnant and carry their pregnancies to completion.

Read it again. He's not claiming that there's no tax benefit from having children. He's claiming that it's not a factor in deciding whether or not to have children. I agree with Mikesez on this, although there are probably a few exceptions.

As far as the tax code, there can be a penalty for marriage as well as a benefit, depending on your status. I agree with flsprtsgod that the government shouldn't be using the tax code for social engineering, and that a consumption tax would be far better.

I'm not endorsing large scale government.  I'm just saying that when you say government should protect children, you are opening the door to the argument that large scale government is an effort to protect children.   It's a very potent argument.

No, my answer means that children's natural rights should be protected by the government the same as everyone else. That doesn't mean they should do any of the things you stated, just that government has basic responsibilities to them the same as adults. Mikesez just likes to ask silly vague questions, so I give him deliberately vague answers. Then people run off with the response and act like I'm a socialist...lol.

Go check all the civil and criminal statutes pertaining to married persons.
In Florida some of it is contained under Title XLIII, Chapter 741.
