Yes, but lets be realistic here.

No disrespect to Bouye, but AJ was no where near as talented as Ramsey - and Jalen's age + rookie contract played major factors too.

Agreed.

But the difference between the trade compensation of the two trades is two 1st Round picks minus the present value factor ( relatively minor ) between a 2020 4th Round pick and a 2021 4th Round pick.   That is an enormous difference,  which at least to me far exceeds the difference between the two CBs, including talent, age, and current contracts.  Under the circumstance the Jaguars were in with Jalen Ramsey doing everything feasible to force a trade,  the Jaguars trade with the LA Rams was sensational.

Undoubtedly agree with you there.

I think all of those factors, plus the "win-now" mode of the Rams FO last year really lent us an incredibly favorable trade - even though we lost a generational type talent in Ramsey (just speaking to his abilities and not the extraneous stuff).

The draft capital gained from that trade certainly give the Jags a very strong chance of future, prolonged success given we hit on the picks.

Interesting.

That's a little strange to me. I was ok with the trade since we were going to release him anyways. That provided a little value than just dumping him. But if we weren't, I don't know if the value was worth it. Our DB depth is in shambles now. I liked how Herndon came along during last year and Hayden played pretty well. But we don't have a true #1 right now do we? That's a little shocking tbh.
On the Ramsey case.... with all the squabbling and Pete Prisco story, and his avoiding contact in the KC game among other things, is Ramsey really a generational talent? He seems to be a diva resting on his laurels and honestly that is why I am annoyed to lose his skills but not devastated. Now the Ngakoue situation is potentially devastating because he didn't seem like a diva type.

I guest you just don't know as a fan.

That kind of sucks if true. I like Bouye. Class act.

Antics and bs aside, his talent is elite and that was the case from the moment he entered the NFL.

I'm with you though, I'm not completely devastated by losing him because of the extraneous stuff. But make no mistake, Ramsey is exceptionally gifted at what he does.

Sad that both parties really screwed things up on all sides of the situation - but the draft capital we received for him was a great consolation prize given how things played out.

This was never going to happen, I dont know why it keeps getting repeated.

Bouye was always going to bring in something, he never was going to be released for nothing. 31 other teams would have traded something for him.

I've said it before, but he was a fantastic talent when he wanted to be. He could turn it on and off like a switch. If he chose to phone it in, he would. But cripes, that TNF game was his last hurrah and he killed it that night.

Probably didn't hurt that we had 9 sacks, too, but JR was not shying away from contact in the least that evening.

I don't like that he chose when to play and when not. True generational players are ALWAYS on. Their competitive nature doesn't allow them to sandbag. Even if the team around them stinks, it's not due to their lack of effort or talent.

Ramsey could of learned a lot from Bouye. I'm sure he didn't listen though, and it went in one ear and out the other

Ramsey was an ignorant [BLEEP].... Incapable of learning anything... And honestly in my eyes had one knockout season... other than that a little above average... Hasn't shown me anything to be impressed since that 2017 season
