If y'all say he's good then I'll believe it. We will revisit this in the future proly. I haven't watched much this offseason. Y'all telling me he's "take him top 4" good so I'll defer to you guys. I'm not saying I see it or not I'm just saying he better be real good if we passing up on pass rushers and LTs.

That's pretty good but didn't AP run faster and went 7?
The point I'm making is he better be real good if we take him at 4. I don't know so if yall saying he's that good then I'll trust it.

This draft is about to have Adams a safety go in the top 5 as high as 2, that would be the highest in history but is Adams the best safety prospect ever, no he is not, but this draft will prob not have a QB or OL go in the top 5 to 10 picks and thats rare, which pushes other great players at other positions up.

Whether it's a trade with Cleveland, a Bortles-to-Arizona blockbuster or something else, I just get the feeling that Coughlin is itching to make his mark and not just sit there at 4 and take the BAP.I like the Arizona trade idea. TC needs to make it happen!
Bortles to Arizona may sound off the wall but I know Arians loved him before the draft and Carson Palmer is about done. I'm just throwing an example out there but I think the Jags are looking to shake things up in this draft.
Everything this organization has put out there since January has reflected a sense of urgency and win-now thinking. I think something big is going to happen in this draft, be it during Thursday's first round or later on.
Am I alone in thinking this?

We hope they are..but the Jags have given many of us whiplash when guys like Soward ( yep..a TC pick) , Matt Jones, The Okie DUI Master Blackmon, Leftwich, Gabbert.....anyway...enough..my head hurts typing those names....were picked.
So is Fournette a can't miss? Who knows. But his credentials are high, he fits the BAP at that spot and a need as well.
The other picks are on the D side...and yes, you can't have enough pass rushers...but the D,on paper, looks solid. So an explosive playmaker out of the backfield, that potentially improves the whole offense is a risk, but high reward pick you take a chance on.
AP was great, but an all pro OLine with Hutchinson et al didn't hurt. That is a Jag concern

Riddle me this? How does a guy who won the AFC Rushing title. Go to the Jaguars and become non existent? Answer No line. So now you want to take the same or around the same no line. And put in a rb that is basically a clone to Ivory. And expect different results?
Fournette on this Jaguars team is definition of INSANITY.
If we had a really good to great line. I am all for Fournette at 4. But we don't have that. So if it can't be Watson all for Cook or over drafting a guard. Or trade down.
Fournette is not Ap and even if could be. The NFL is not the same league. It was years ago.

I don't like any of the top QBs in this draft, and I hope we don't take one early. But if it means I'll never have to watch Bortles and his ugly windup throw pick sixes and lose us games again, then I guess I couldn't complain too much.

True. But how many other FAs came here with high expectations and flopped? It seems a Jag thing. Ivory gets injured here, and played steady in NY.
With Lee, Hurns and ARob....the pass game can rebound. They'd have to keep guys like an Ivory Fournette tandem honest.
OLinemen like run blocking better. Just maybe, they can improve pounding forward vs being pushed back.
Hope.

Same reason Bortles threw for 4400 and last year couldn't hit the ocean.

Bothering to read your awful posts, both in content and context, is insanity.

While our line is far from great, it wasnt the line that held ivory back, it was his brittle body as usual
04-27-2017, 05:40 PM
If ya go running back has to be shifty and can catch out of the back field. . So Cook or MCcaffery. But lets say we draft Fournette. Why would teams knowing our line stinks not load the box again? Cause no one is scared of being beat by Bortles. Not one team.
Could he make them regret or pay possibly? But highly doubtful.
And that is the 18 million dollar question. Due next week.

Provided Bortles arm isn't already shot to hell and fatigued, sure he'd make them pay.
If we do go Trubisky, or trade down and go Mahomes, while trading Blake for say a 2nd round pick and avoiding the $18 mil option, it's not because he doesn't have the ability and potential to be the guy... rather, it's because they don't trust his arm will hold up every season until the end. Considering it hasn't in two out of three seasons... as in year one and year three... it's not that much of a stretch to go there.

100% agree. this is precisely the reason Fournette would be my 6th option at number 4. Too many options to take that guy there, when there's options later in the draft at RB if that's the direction they are going.

It is silly to believe can fix footwork, decision making, Accuracy, Mental mistakes, and a repaired arm/shoulder all in one year.

Definitely have some holes on the roster... I think for us we should stick to BAP and let the pieces fall wherever they may.

Barnette definatly be an option or a running back. But If we are saying that Blake deserves another year. Why doesn't Ivory? Bortles 2015 year was stellar fantasy points wise. But wasn't Ivory as well?

I think he mechanical issues can be fixed, and that will improve his accuracy as well. Now the decision making and mental mistakes need to get worked out of his game.. I see him being a very smart qb, but it's just those occasional brain farts that he needs to cut out.
That said, I'm really not worried about his game and believe he can turn it around and be a very good qb. Really my one and only concern is will his arm hold up every season for the entire season, and I just can't say that it will. The thought that maybe we make the playoffs, and then suddenly he can't throw, has me concerned. It's that one concern over all else that has me saying I won't be upset if we trade Bortles and look to move on. Again, I feel Bortles has "it" and has the potential to be as great as Ben Roethlisberger, but if I can't trust his arm will hold up then I have to consider my options.
