Jacksonville Jaguars Fan Forums

Here are my final top 10 rankings for each position. I have the positions separated into guys that would fit in 4-3 schemes and players fitting into 3-4 schemes. I ranked them according to their best fit IMO, but some guys could easily fit into both schemes, especially the MLB and ILB categories. I also separated the Left Tackles from the Right Tackles. Personally, I would NEVER select a guy who has only played on the right side, to play LT in the NFL. The margin for error from being a College LT to an NFL LT is great, but going from being a college RT to an NFL LT, is extremely difficult and rarely works, hence the separate categories. I could only come up with 5 total NT prospects as that takes a very specific body type and skill set. Good NT's are hard to find. 

As all the veterans of the board know, I have my own opinions and I'm not afraid to share them. These are my rankings and mine alone. I do not care what the so called, draft experts think. My rankings are always much different than what you would see anywhere else. If you disagree with where I have a guy ranked or if I have a player ranked at all, that's fine. Love makes poor decisions. I just don't see anything special about this guy. I see a lifetime backup, at best.

Laviska Shenault either has big games or he totally disappears and he disappeared a lot last year. He was so good in 2018, but the dropoff this past season was way too much for my liking. I just didn't see the effort that I saw in 2018 and in this crowded WR class, it caused him to fall. 

C.J. Henderson is a very good cover corner, but his tackling is abysmal. I just prefer more well rounded guys. It's a pretty deep CB in my opinion. I do have Henderson ranked way in front of Trevon Diggs, A.J. Terrell and Cameron Dantzler. I'm really low on them. 

I just saw Xavier McKinney out of position way too many times last season and he missed some key tackles as well. Overall, this is a weak Safety class. 

Chaisson may have a ton of athletic ability, but so far, that hasn't transferred on the field. I never draft guys on potential. If they don't put up results, I have no use for them. 

Agreed. Yetur Gross-Matos is one of the most underrated guys in the draft. To me, he is way better than Epenesa.

Thanks for pointing out Biadasz. I did a ton of cutting and pasting from another file on my computer and I was wondering why I had to re-type OSU, behind Jonah Jackson. Somehow, that got listed with Biadasz and got cut from Jonah Jackson. I need to be more organized or learn to start proof reading. 

When I see Terrell play, I see "just a guy." He was shaky early in the season, got better and then got destroyed by Ja'Marr Chase. I just don't see a #1 CB when I look at him. I see a guy very similar to Rashaan Melvin. I see Terrell having a fairly long career, but going from team to team, never being able to establish himself. 

Never really been a big fan of Akers either. He was a lot better this past year than he was in 2018, but nothing that made me say, "wow". He had a few games this season where he didn't even average 4.0 ypc. I just see more consistent RB's on the board.

Everyone got destroyed by Chase, he is the best WR  in college and a generational talent.  It was really the only bad game he had.  If your only bad game is against the best WR id say thats pretty good.  And Akers played behind the worst online in football the last couple years and still averaged over 7ypc and I'm a Gator fan saying that.

I like Taylor
Better then Dobbins and Swift

To me Swift reminds of a Joseph Addai, not particularly explosive but has good vision and is nifty, doesn’t really beat you with explosion and speed

Taylor is a combination of Dobbins and Swift to me. Great Speed, Size, Cuts, Vision

5 ypc is still crazy good behind the worst online in football. Which games was Terrell bad in early in the season?

Early in the season, it wasn't that Terrell gave up big games, but he allowed some key passes for first downs in those Texas A&M and North Carolina games that he shouldn't have, IMO. Then, later in the season, it was the games against Virginia, Ohio State and LSU where his coverage skills came into question with me. Like i said, I think he will have a decent NFL career as a journeyman, but I just don't see him as the "lockdown" #1 CB that we so desperately need. To me, he just looks average. In fairness, there is a dropoff at CB the size of Mount Everest, once Okudah comes off the board, so I may be judging this CB class more harshly than I would have in past seasons. When comparing any CB to Okudah, they're gonna look bad in comparison. I could be wrong, we'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks for your efforts with the rankings and 7 Round Mock Draft.  Getting different opinions that are well thought out like you provided is appreciated.  It leads to interesting discussions both in the present and when games, and seasons, are complete.   The breakdown by LT vs. RT, and the various positions on the Defense in the front 7 to the extent you separated the categories is something I wish more of the paid analysts would do much more of.

I have to echo D6 on this. I don't watch any CFB so when the thoughts turn to the draft around Super Bowl time, I am seeing 95% of the names for the first time. Your input and that of several others (I liked KY Jaggy when he was here, too) is simply invaluable.

After reading all the back and forth and the Board's mock draft, I am usually caught up and know the names through the 4th round and am able to grumble as well as anybody as a player I know (Hunter Bryant, for ex) falls into the 5th round and later.

I have to echo D6 on this. I don't watch any CFB so when the thoughts turn to the draft around Super Bowl time, I am seeing 95% of the names for the first time. Your input and that of several others (I liked KY Jaggy when he was here, too) is simply invaluable.

After reading all the back and forth and the Board's mock draft, I am usually caught up and know the names through the 4th round and am able to grumble as well as anybody as a player I know (Hunter Bryant, for ex) falls into the 5th round and later.

Thank you, ColoJag, Caldrac, and everyone else that contributed in this section of Duval Pride.  The search button gets plenty of use on this end to read parts of threads from day, weeks, months, and even years ago in this section of the Forum.


As someone who puts together one 3 Round Mock Draft each year, sometimes going to the beginning of the early 4th Round,  I've never even remotely attempted a complete 7th Round Draft of 255 players. Instead of becoming familiar with around 250 to 275 players like I try to do,  the time and effort to do a complete 7 Round Mock Draft is off the charts.  

Hunter Bryant is one of 7 UDRFAs heading to the Lions if multiple reports prove correct:

Lol oline's essential worst case scenario happening reminds me of a few years ago when I got roasted after the fact for saying predraft that Fowler, Yeldon, and Rashad Greene was my worst case scenario. Hopefully you aren't as right as I was.

Most agreed on Yeldon and Fowler.  I dont remember one person that wanted Yeldon when all those other really good RBs were on the board.  One of Daves worst picks
