Although it's nice that he fesses up to being the reason we are losing, it's starting to sound like a broken record.

Two weeks ain't quite a broken record. Needs fixing, but more like dull/wobbly turntable needle or a record in need of cleaning.

That's usually something you either have or you don't have for me. Cool head under pressure.

you may be right about that but he seemed pretty cool under pressure and pretty decisive last year. The regression he has shown the last couple weeks is extremely odd.

this is my line of thinking. It is probably an easy fix he just hasn't been able to put his finger on it yet. And we know the coaches don't out their fingers on anything.

He's had the same post game press conference in year 1 and year 2... Year 1 it sounded like a rookie willing to take blame (leadership)

Year two was like "yeah he's costing us some games but he's also putting up big numbers and keeping us in other games"


Year 3 we need to stop hearing this crap because it can't keep happening

Threw a ton of picks in key situations last year two..and the year before. Think its just part of his game.


Yeah he's in a tough spot. He has the whole team on his shoulders but he isn't quite ready for the full brunt of that.

Can BB5's mechanics fix my broken weed eater?

for sure. I just feel like he and his teammates are alone and in the dark trying to figure this stuff out. We all want Bortles to be a monster and unfortunately we won't have answers on him or anyone else for at least another year.

Oh yeah totally agree. Not exactly a place you'd put a young QB and expect him to flourish. Maybe I'm being too hard on the guy.

His mechanics may have taken a step back, but taking sacks in key situations is not mechanics. Checking into the wrong play at the line of scrimmage is not mechanics. Not getting the team lined up in time is not mechanics. 

 

That is all teaching/learning situational football and film study. My point was that. He needs to work those things, and needs coaches who will get him to do those things well. You can overcome some bad mechanics if you get those things corrected.

 

To be elite, sure he needs to fix some mechanics. But right now we are not even expecting that, we need average. Then we can hope for average. (Yes is frustrating to take a step backwards, but that happens sometimes.)

Just a though but maybe this is why we are seeing all this short/screen stuff. Maybe his mechanics have really regressed and the coaches know...
