Yes, and the rookie wage scale was set directly because of how much money fans spend. If fans had spent no money, the rookie wage scale would be significantly less. The only reason the NFL was able to implement this wage scale and pay these players is because of how much money they make from fans.
I don't understand what's so hard about this concept. If no one is buying the product, there is no money to pay the workers.
