Thanks to Coach Marrone.
Commissioner Goodell: With the 1st pick in the 2021 NFL Draft...

The Jacksonville Jaguars select...

(commercial break)

Trey: And we're back here at the Draft where The Patriots are on the clock. By the way the Jaguars made their pick while we were away, and...wait, here's the Commissioner.

Commish: With the second pick of the 2021 NFL Draft the New England Patriots select Trevor Lawrence, Quarterback, Clemson.

Trey: For those of who care, the Jaguars, in a surprise move, selected Xavier Thomas, the Edge guy out of Clemson. Anyway, back to the Pats pick of the best prospect anyone has ever seen.
There's no way we'll be the worst team in the league. Panthers/Redskins/Bears will all be worse. Rams/Giants as well I think.
I just can't see us being *that* bad this season. The passing game shows promise, Fournette even though he's not a pro-bowler had a productive year last year and the OL is certainly not going to be any worse than last year. Defense may actually be better even though the overall talent level's taken a step back. There was a lot of dysfunction there last year. So just forget the #1 pick unless Rams finish 0-16. Could happen I guess.

For the past 10 years people expected the Jags to suck and they were right 9 times out of 10.  That said, I'd have to say most of the nation is usually right above the Jags when they say we're going to suck.
Wasnt it the 2013 season we scored like 1 touchdown in the first 4 games.... that was the bottom to me. I dont think we are going that low again even with a rebuild.

Yeah we started 0-8, I think we scored 2 points in our opener......brutal season.
I think this team will have more wins than last year, missing out on the lottery for QBs next draft. Here's why:

Offense will be better...
Gruden is a better OC.
Minshew has game experience now.
Fournette is in a contract year, playing for someone to give him a big deal.
More weapons with Eifert, Shenault, and Johnson.
OL all returning with Robinson more healthy and Norwell with incentives now.

Defense will be better...
Woods, Gunter, Hamilton, and even Bryan getting better later in the year will improve the interior line (Dareus only played 6 games last season).
Adding Schobert and moving Jack to WLB upgrades 2 LB positions and better depth added.
Herndon has experience now and Bouye's mediocre play replaced by Henderson, a top cover CB from the draft.
Lastly, the pass rush has Allen with a year of experience and adding Chaisson.

The only downgrade from last season IMO is at SDE, losing Calais. The biggest risk right now for a complete losing season is if Minshew get injured, as the backups would be horrendous.

And here I thought TMD was banned.

I hope I am missing the sarcasm here.  1 winning season with 8 years on the staff.  I get the fact that certain members with defend said front office regardless (see gene smith defenders)  but some are not in touch with reality.

I believe the only reason Dough and Dave are still on the team is because they are under contract and Khan doesn't want to pay them for nothing.  By the way, most of these so called stadium upgrades and money Khan has spent came from the city.  This used car salesman owner and his staff are no longer fooling me.  One seriously has to question this team's dedication to winning.  This team had an abysmal rebound year after the afc championship game, players running wild and demanding trades, locker room lost, and no sense of leadership.  How did most of this coaching staff keep their job?   Tom Coughlin made one hell of an escape goat.  The kicker is this team was bad before Tom and that is why he was hired in the first place.

It's just ridiculous anyone can defend this team.

Why would it be sarcasm? it's a fact that Caldwell has never made a mistake while being the GM of the Jags.

Bradley? Khan's fault!
Bortles? there wasn't a franchise QB in 2014 or 2015 so should we really blame him for at least trying by selecting Bortles? I don't think so!
It's known that Caldwell wanted Mahomes but since Khan gave all the power to that old guy we went Fournette! If we would have let Mr Caldwell do his job we would have Mahomes right now! probably a SB too!
Also who choose Marrone! the old guy!!!
Thank God Caldwell at least conviced the old guy to draft Allen, bring Calais and Bouye otherwise who knows what that guy would have done to our franchise
Caldwell is yet to make a mistake while being our GM, the guy is a genius!!! Banana
I just don’t see like most guys.

I think we had a very productive draft. The Shenault pick alone has me excited. Not to mention we got the best CB in the draft. And Chassiom is going to be a stud too.

Hamilton in the 3rd was a steak in my eyes.

Murray gets the hype.  But he was not better than Minshew last year.

I agree.  In a world where those teams exist, we will not be worst.

All things considered, do people think Minshew will be worse this year? Did he really peak year one? I don't see it honestly. I liked what Gardner did and think he'll be better in year two with Gruden calling plays. Assuming he stays the same or performs better that probably has us in the wildcard conversation if I'm being honest.

You're big on hyperbole.

Coughlin was probably responsible for Calais, Bouye, Norwell, and the rest of the free agent signings from 2017 to 2019, so he gets the credit there.

Allen and Ramsey were clearly no-brainer picks. Even Gene Smith wouldn't have missed on those. I'd guess Bryan was a Caldwell pick and Fournette a Coughlin pick since that seems to fit the style of each. I'd also guess Caldwell made the Bortles re-sign mistake and Coughlin the Foles mistake.

I didn't think that Khan was responsible for Bradley, but two other posters corrected me. So yes he was. The Jags could have won the division in 2015 with anything close to a competent defensive coordinator. Bradley's climate was responsible for at least a few failures in player development; a lot of players had their first year with the Jags as their best year with the Jags, including both draft picks and free agent signings. So you might as well just throw out the W/L record of the first four years. If you want to point out specific mistakes in the draft then Caldwell is fair game.

So yeah, Caldwell has made a lot of mistakes. You could say that of every GM. Who would you want as the Jags GM to replace Caldwell (not counting the GMs of other teams since they can't be hired)? I remember when TMD kept pushing for Phil Savage LOL.
