So we are technically in the off season programme but obviously due to Covid it is all being conducted over zoom. Now they had this on with the website with Schobert.

"We're going through our first install today," Schobert said, referring to the process of coaches "installing" offensive and defensive schemes – a key phase of any NFL offseason program. "I feel like I have a pretty good understanding of what we tried to install today. But then usually you go on the field and you get to walk through it and you get to practice it.
"I can go in my backyard and I can go through steps, but I can't see the offense doing anything. I can't communicate to Myles next to me, or to the D-ends (defensive ends) to make some calls here and there to work through it. It's definitely going to be different. You just have to be really studious and pay attention in the virtual classroom way more.
"It's going to be a lot of watching film and putting yourself in the shoes of the guys who are in it."

Schobert said a virtual offseason day consists of a prerecorded meeting with a PowerPoint presentation and video cutups, followed by a Zoom meeting with the linebackers and position coach Mark Collins at 1:00 p.m. that includes film study.
[size=medium]"You can make some of the checks so you're kind of playing through a game over the film," Schobert said. "Then you talk about certain coaching points every play. Obviously if there's something big in the installation that's important to our position you go over that. Then, it's just watching a bunch of film and making the calls."

Now that doesnt sound ideal but all 32 teams will be doing the exact same thing so its not a Jags problem. I saw Bill O'Brien say the other day this would be a 'veterans off season', how do you guys think this will impact us and other teams? No one knows when usual off season drills will return.

We may get lucky with areas like the Oline which have that experience and stability.
Far from ideal defensively because they are revamping the front 7 and leaning toward more 3-4 fronts.

Far from ideal offensively because it's a new OC and scheme featuring quite a few young players.

It's far from ideal.

Exactly. The silver lining im taking is everyone is in the same boat and at least we dont have a rookie QB or new HC trying to installl a new everything.
I feel like the NFL could buy all the players VR headsets and develop some cutting edge software tech to simulate an install and basic practice. True, it will never replace actual live practice.

But there is a need for this tech now, and the NFL is probably one of the few organizations that could afford to develop it.

Plus after COVID, it could even be marketed as a way to prevent injuries for player safety and sold to other leagues and maybe other sports.

I agree there are opportunities. By no means am i techie but VR in the NFL is pretty common now and if you could find a way to merge like zoom with the VR headsets so players could all be interacting on the same virtual field. Id have no idea how or if you could do that.

Hell getting them all to play Madden online together may not be the dumbest idea

I didn't even think about having them all on the same VR field at once.

Heck, that's a cool enough concept that they could broadcast it on ESPN and get pretty good ratings.
This can only be a good thing. When we practiced normally as did the other 31 teams, we were the 2nd to last place team of the decade. Perhaps virtual practice will set the other teams back so far that the Jags will be competitive once again. Since we don't ever get better, we can only hope the other teams get worse.
