Easy.
1. He’s dropping the child off at daycare. Let him do that. Then wait until the parent is gone and ask the daycare staff for the name of the child. If it’s him, then you continue your investigation. If it isn’t, then you go back to typing.
2. It doesn’t matter because he isn’t there.
3. No one is hurt so maybe a complaint if it’s the wrong kid?
Yeah, I thought it was odd a dude would kidnap a kid, then drop him off at daycare, but I didn't want to ruin the exercise.

Is that how it came off? I intended it to be 2 separate people unaware of what the other was doing. The Officer hears the dispatch. The civilian is just doing his daily routine. Circumstances just happen to bring these two together. It was clear in my head.

Let me clarify: I was saying if I were the cop, I would find it odd that a suspect was dropping the kid off at daycare after abducting him. I would still check, because people are morons and you need to be diligent, but I would think it was highly unlikely this was the suspect.

But the police officer does not know the intentions of the driver. All he knows is what he heard over the radio. Child abduction, black male mid to late 20’s, blue sedan, armed and dangerous.
And I'm thinking to myself, why would you abduct a kid, then drop them off at daycare? It doesn't make sense. Look, I'm not saying no person would ever do something that stupid, but if you're going to go to the trouble of abducting a child, you probably don't follow their regular schedule. If I hear over the radio child abduction and description, I follow through, but my gut is saying this isn't the guy for the obvious reason listed above.

I understood the original post. The guy is heading toward the daycare in his car to drop off his child. The cop doesn't know the destination because the father is not there yet when he's pulled over. The guy who abducted a child is a different person than the guy who is pulled over.
Oh. That's fine. When you said dropping them off, I imagined him at the day care. There's the misunderstanding.
