Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin told Congress on Wednesday that he has continued to loosen the rules of the Paycheck Protection Program to make sure the vast majority of borrowers will have at least some of their loans forgiven, but that he does not ever plan on releasing the names of borrowers to the public.

Mnuchin and Carranza both repeatedly came under questioning for the government’s failure to release more information about recipients of funds. Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) inquired about the number of loans issued to affiliates, which allowed some large public companies to receive many loans.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) asked for more information on how Planned Parenthood affiliates were able to land more than $80 million.

So, dear Jaguars Forum Reader, don't you think we should know who got all that money?  Why the secrecy?   Can you smell the not so faint whiff of corruption?

Because both parties did a lot of shady [BLEEP] with that's money. That's why it went so fast, and that's why the exact distribution has been hidden. If that info gets out, nobody wins politically.
Bingo.
Any time the government gives out money it should be readily available to see who got it.
I believe my company got media bail out money. CNN is great right?
Isn't it reasonable to want to know where that money went?  And why the coverup?  One can only speculate that there is widespread fraud, and there are numerous companies who got the money who didn't need it, and powerful people don't want the list of recipients disclosed.

All you guys worried about the looting... this is the mother of all looting.  While you guys are watching some guy snatching a TV set, or some woman stealing baby diapers, $700 billion went who knows where.

This is our government, and our money, and someone just took a gigantic wad of our money, handed it out, and won't tell us who got that money.
I'm with you on this. We need more government transparency.
I also agree.
spend spend spend. It will be our grandchildrens problem.

The history books will blame Trump.

Yes, it's a lot of borrowed money.  But what's even worse is, they won't tell us where it went.
Exactly! They pit all of us against each other and then they loot the Treasury. You cannot make this [BLEEP] up. Hollyweird must be jealous
Now it is being revealed that there are some congresspeople who benefited from the PPP program.

Those same congresspeople voted to keep the list of recipients secret.

$700 billion given away, and they won't tell us who got the money.
$2M disclosure threshold? BS. It should be one penny.

No one gets into politics for good reasons... well... at least they definitely don't stay for good reasons.

100% agreed. There's only one reason to hide that info, and that would be because someone doesn't want it getting out.

But you will still blame Obama.
You can't fault them for taking the money as it was within the rules.

You can fault them for not releasing the companies that got the money and for not writing the bill to limit the size of companies who could get the money.
The machine in DC is so corrupt. I swear, we could find so much common ground if we'd stop letting small issues divide us. This is the problem with federalization, imo.

If the money went to members of Congress, their affiliations or their families, yeah, I'd fault them for that.
