The poster just says these are characteristics of white culture.  Now, you can argue with that.  But what the poster does not say is, there are no other cultures that have these characteristics.

If I accept your standard, that defining white culture means no other cultures have these characteristics, then we can't define anything, because according to that standard, the thing being defined would monopolize every aspect of that definition.  We can't say, "this table is flat" because that would imply that the only flat things are tables.

That’s a valid point but the poster header states that these are characteristics of whiteness that have been “normalized” by other cultures. I take that to mean if not for white people, the world would be inhabited by folks who exhibit few or none of these characteristics.

I think the poster bears discussion, and I hope it was intended that way.  I think the poster is a good jumping off point to discuss what is culture, what is "white culture," how many white people actually have these characteristics, can we actually call this "white culture," etc.

The poster might be right or wrong, but it is not, in my opinion at least, racist.  And the people who call it that are adopting cancel culture, ironically.  They take someone's statement and accuse them of racism.  That's cancel culture.  And many people who decry cancel culture are doing it right in this thread.
I think Marty missed the memo that "whiteness" is the irredeemable sin of humanity and every vestige of it must be stamped out. Every item on that poster is targeted for destruction by these people. Every single one.

If the creator of the poster meant us to believe these aspects are indeed common of all races, why mention them at at all?  Isn't that like saying, "White people have two ears."?

Why is only "whiteness" defined if we're truly talking about all races?.  What about "blackness'', "redness", "yellowness", "latinoness".......
The museum has taken down the poster.

"Museum officials apologized and removed the material, which had been online since May 31, saying it did not contribute to the discussion as planned, interim director Spencer Crew said Friday."

“The whole idea behind the portal is how do we give tools to people to have these conversations that are vital to moving forward. This was one of those tools,” Crew said. “We have found it’s not working in the way we intended. We erred in including it.”

No admission of the fact that it was highly racist.

Admission that it was intended to influence "conversations".

I thought the purpose of a museum was to preserve and display history, not create it.
The poster was stupid and stupidly provocative. It’s really as simple as that.

The poster is the expression of the tenets of the racialist religion, and the intent is destroy Western Civilization and replace it with "We Wuz Kings" revisionist history. Unfortunately for these idiots they are nothing but cannon fodder for the totalitarianism that undergirds it. Once they've served their purpose they'll get a nice cozy seat in the camps where they can wonder how it all went so wrong.

+1
I'm going to donate my white dead body to a museum. "Last of his breed" the sign will say. Sad

I don't know what's wrong with that poster.  Those are definitely aspects of white culture.  Maybe one or two I might argue with, but overall, it's true.

this poster is an expression of how the leftist elites see themselves and how they see minorities.  They See "White" as a superior culture that embodies inherently positive traits and thus creates wealth.  Members of other cultures that take on said positive traits are "internalizing racism" or "acting white."  Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, Shelby Steel and so on have talked about this for years.  They also talk about the disastrous consequences of building racial subcultures that shun young black or hispanic kids (especially males) for ACTING WHITE.  Character traits, just like science or math, are universal traits.  They don't belong to anyone.  Some cultures may emphasize certain character traits over others, but they are unique nor do they define any single culture.  Moreover, ANY CULTURE that adopts a higher emphasis on character and success will have greater prosperity.  That may have something to do with the fact that in this white dominant culture, non whites are at the top of the income distribution.

The saddest irony of the whole thing is how fundamentally ahistorical this whole concept is.  The poster is written within the context of post modern "multi-culturalism" the idea that no culture is better or superior than another.  Any system that benefits any cultural group over another is inherently biased, racist etc.  No matter if that system (capitalism) is PURELY mericratic and objective.  The greater point is the idea that cultures and subcultures should be subsidized to remain isolated and not required to assimilate into larger society.  The TRUE advantage that the European "White" culture had, was the natural contours of the European coastline and access to navigable waterways.  Before there was the free exchange of ideas through the internet, there was the free exchange of ideas from person to person in international travel/commerce.  Through that exchange it was precisely European culture's willingness to assimilate, self edit, and evolve over time that allowed for the emergence of what we now call western civilization.  When they made the trip to the new world, they used an arabic numbering system, navigation taken from asia, had a religion developed by Jews and so on.  This idea of collective intellectual property, cultural appropriation, and the Wakanda falacy that a group succeeds over time through economic isolation is just hogwash.

I have been making this argument for years. Cultural assimilation is one of the most powerful adaptive tools humans have. I think a lot of this new anti-racist garbage is setting us back years. Only people who are unlearned about the subversive philosophy designed to undermine the United States can believe this is an organic movement that is actually progressive. This is an evolution of critical theory, designed to tear down the pillars that bind our communities.
Hey Hey Ho Ho, Western Civ has got to go!

This bull [BLEEP] isn't new, it's certainly not enlightened, and it's self defeating.
I still don't get the outrage. The poster was not criticizing white people or Western civilization. "White people believe in hard work." Ooooh, I'm outraged!!!

If anything, they're indirectly dissing non-white people, although I didn't take it that way, either.

I think you guys just enjoy being outraged.

Then explain the purpose of the poster. It must have meant something to someone to go through the effort of creating and posting it.

I’m more interested in the ethnicity of the person who created the poster. I’m just curious if this an expression of how a white person perceives their self and their culture( making the poster sort of a self-inflating ego trip). Or is this from a person who is not white in which case I have no idea what their intended purpose is for this “conversation starter”.

Marty, here's the deal.

All of those things are being presenting a the key components of "whiteness."

"Whiteness" = White Supremacy

Everyone agrees that White Supremacy = Bad

So all those things have to be replaced by non "whiteness" things.

And the mechanism of choice to do so are bull [BLEEP] activism plans like this:
