Phil is old. People sleep on our defense too much, act like we will be 100% terrible. Jags win via comeback after the defense struggles early, but old Phil wears down late and throws a few picks. 34-31 Jags.
Without any preseason games, I find it hard to make a prediction.

I am exited for this year and to see how this team develops. The Jags have the youngest roster in the league and the front office has done a really good job with the type of players that they have brought in the last 2 years. We have added a slew of tough minded individuals who will become the core of this squad for the near future.
Yeah this feels crazy odd with no preseason, Hard Knocks etc

No idea what to expect, my expectations are loooooooow.

I will go for 7 flags on the first play tho.

My thought exactly, people just know for sure are our defense will suck.  Our LB corps should be much improved, Tavon Bryan's development will be huge for our D.  I also think Herndon and Harrison will be much improved for our secondary
Colts are a decent team minus an last year and they fixed that. I expect a jags loss

Phil isn't too much older than he was when he put 50 on us last year, with a worse offensive line than he will have in Indy. Though our defense fell off, it was still better last year than it is now.

If he declined rapidly in camp, we'd have heard some rumblings about it by now.  If he declines, it will most likely be over the course of the season, not week 1.
There is one thing that could help this team a ton compared to last year, and that is penalties. If this team could just get to the middle of the league in penalties could be a huge help compared to last year when we were dead last.

Agreed.

Question is how?

Fundamentals, and players need to hold their self and each other accountable.. i think Gruden will be a big on in the offensive side of the ball in that regard

Quite possibly both.

I am wondering how much of this offensive "explosion" in training camp as attributable to Gruden's influence, how much is attributable to Minshew's improvement, how much is on the bad defense, etc.

As for Marrone, it's entirely possible players may have tuned him out to at least some degree. It's entirely possible the team would benefit from a coaching change.

We all know Wash is a dead man hanging.  I think Marrone is too.

How I see this playing out goes like this. Marrone gets fired mid or towards the end of the season and Gruden takes over as interim coach. He mildly impresses similar to Marrone and he gets the job.

That makes a ton of sense on a lot of levels.

If you have a team that is going to bottom out, and possibly go after a QB, it makes sense to get a coach who can develop QBs and who knows the team.

Definitely. Thats one of the big things I'm judging Marrone on this season. Getting tired of the same mistakes week in week out. Taunting penalties when we are losing, stupid 1st down drive killer penalties. We're not good enough to overcome all those obstacles too.

Like last season, Jack, made a Captain, ejected first game for throwing a punch. Bonehead stuff.
“Jags gonna surprise some people this year!”

Hahahaha Yikes.
Now that Fournette is gone.... we are definitely mailing it in on Week 1 to indy
Yeah, this FO clearly does not care. I feel bad for any player on this team. I am here to eat crow and change my prediction. We are clearly tanking and I truly do feel for guys like Chark and Minshew who are young and show promise. Sadly the big idiots in charge have other plans. Team will quit by halftime, you don't just cut your RB1 2 weeks before the season. 34-10 Clots. [BLEEP] its so hard to be a Jags fan sometimes.
