Cut me up a slice. I had no expectations: I just wanted to see COMPETENCY from the offense and saw it, which was surprising. No more run left/run right/incomplete/punt.

Defense bent/but didn’t break. For a guy like Rivers to toss 300+ and LOSE? I’ll take it.
I might as well get this over with............ I was wrong. I said the Colts would run away with the division. That was the wrong call. For the last couple years, I blamed Phillip Rivers woes on his poor O-Line play in San Diego. That obviously was not the case. The Colts O-Line gave him plenty of time yesterday and he was awful! Those 2 (almost 3) interceptions yesterday were nothing short of "dead ducks" that were gifted to us. Rivers has lost his vision, instincts and after the season, I think he should call it a career.

I was also wrong about how bad I thought this team would be. Although I will stop short of crowning Minshew as the first franchise QB this team has had since Brunell, I'll admit, he is winning me over. His performance yesterday was brilliant. He took what was given and showed tremendous poise and accuracy. Maybe the marriage between Gruden's system and Minshew's skill set is perfect together. Minshew still needs to learn to throw the ball out of bounds, instead of taking a sack, but he's way ahead of where I expected him to be.

I'll even say this. C.J. Henderson had a very good game. His coverage was good, but what especially shocked me was his tackling. This was a very weak area of his coming into the NFL, but apparently he took this to heart and really worked on that area of his game. He almost didn't look like the same player from last year. He made 3 beautiful open field tackles with near perfect technique. He must've hired a private coach in the off season, because I know he didn't improve that much from Wash's teaching.

I know it's just one game, but this is a big win and puts us in the right direction.
i mean i see my plate but its week 1. For any team or player that has a great or good rookie year or any for that matter, i wait till yr 2 is over to see the rise or decline. Im proud but have said even with bb5/pre foles that its either Trevor or a top QB unless someone takes the franchise QB spot and runs with it. GM either proves it at the end of this year or we stay stuck in mediocrity per usual. Happy for the dub tho and hope it continues

I give the team all the credit for not giving up, I figured we would keep it close but find a way to make a late mistake and hand our opponent the victory. It was a thrilling game, and as a fan, you couldn't ask for more.

better make sure the portions are small for now. I prefer flats over drums, one should do for now.
I'll take some crow with some chicken enchilada dip from publix. I had a feel that week 1 division game would be close, but ultimately i picked the colts in a blow out. Team came out and played HARD! You can clearly tell that they took the tanking talk personal. I love what I saw week 1 from Gruden's offense! The defense however my feelings remain the same, I think they'll get exposed badly. Colts never even punted ONCE!
I'm just here to watch ya'll eat crow. Won't rub it in as (most of) ya'll are owning up to it but I won't get too excited after 1 game.
I did say however that the clots were beatable. Their D wasn't that good. Rivers isn't getting better with age, he looked like the same dolt that was tossin' terrible INTs in Bolt-land.
Jags offense wasn't as potent as I'd hoped but were extremely efficient. Defense wasn't great but we didn't expect them to be. But Henderson showed up despite many fans being doubtful of his ability and draft position. Safeties were supposed to be trash and actually made some plays.

I hope we see more of the efficient offense and bend don't break style of D. Makes games fun to watch.
Glad I put money on the over at 5 wins. I firmly believe we can win 7ish games this season. clots aren't some powerhouse. Bengals didn't look good. Browns didn't look good. We got some very winnable games on the schedule.

Enjoy the crow and the W everyone. Can't wait to see how the tacks look to gauge our next opponent.

The tacks are gonna run through Henry.  Tannehill will MANAGE, but if(and that is a HUGE if until we prove otherwise) you shut down Henry, that is a winnable game.  I can't even REMEMBER the last time we beat Tenn IN Tenn.

Well as of the end of last season their D was ranked 21st or something is what I was basing it on.
Honestly we beat the clots because our offense played relatively mistake free and Philip Rivers is the QB I thought he was. Talented, can still sling it, but throws INTs like he's doing is best Blake Bortles impression.
wow....it's a pretty long line of crow eaters.
Not really expecting a win in Tennessee .... but consider

They're playing a late starting game in Denver .... it should be a close game ....its a long flight home so a short week for them
and the Jags will be fresh off the excitement of a division W.

One game at a time guys ....just remember "Any given Sunday"

Fair: but from last season to this season the Clots D also added a 2d team All Pro DT in DeForest Buckner and picked up a CB that was a Pro Bowler last year in Xavier Rhodes. Paired with Darius Leonard, that's PREMIER players in all three phases of the defense.

True. And I suspect as the season progresses they could play better. But I don't think those additions automatically jumped their D up significantly. They gotta play in the now, can't rest on past credentials, imo.

I justt think it was the game plan and our players executing than it was just them having a bad defense.  Not to mention one of the best olines in the league, a good WR corps, and they just drafted Taylor at RB who is a beast

Yep.  Its not 'past credentials'.  Buckner is 26 years old.  He's not a past the prime DT. Leonard is one of the best LBs in the league and a 2x All Pro. Granted, no off season has given them time to gel, but at the same time plugging primo players in where you had replacement level players previously should automatically make the team better.

At the same time, maybe we/everyone DID sleep on this offense.  Robinson is coming off the 2nd year of a ACL injury, where you are supposed to be back to full strength.  With Robinson/Linder full strength, maybe Norwell finally IS a good G? Granted, Taylor absolutely WHIFFED on the one sack I saw but overall the Line held, opened lanes for James Robinson and allowed Minshew to be surgical in the passing game. Is he going to go 19-20 every game? No, but he doesn't really HAVE to. Not every QB is going to be as talented as Rivers. We are also gonna play a Fitzpatrick, Burrow, Taylor, Trubisky, and Mayfield this season. If we can split the series against Hou or Tenn.....whos to say we CAN'T go .500 this year?

That’s insane.

I didn't really notice this either until I heard it mentioned in post game on the radio.  Basically, the Colts had 9 possessions.  They had 2 turnovers, 2 stops on fourth down and a missed field goal.  Those things are actually better than punts for the Jaguars as the opponent doesn't improve their field position.  The Colts did score on four possessions, but two were only field goals leading to 20 points.  The Jaguars scored 27.  If the Jaguars score 27 every week, they'll have a decent record.
I'll admit the release of Fournette on top of what has happened over the last year or so got the better of me, I thought we would stink.

TO BE FAIR!!! I initially picked the Jaguars to win Sunday, and have said several times I think they'd shock a lot of people. Gotta keep a level headed approach, should have stuck with my gut feeling about this team!
I wanted to enjoy a rare Victory Monday before commenting and I'm not eating yet.

Dont get me wrong, very happy to get the W, some very encouraging rookie performances. O did a good job moving the ball and it was very encouraging to see them finishing drives with TD's.

But I still saw plenty of worries. I thought the Colts played pretty reckless. Easy first drive for them, went for on 4th very early and that seemed to get us going. The Hendersons pick was a huge momentum swing and we were able to punish those mistakes. Rivers threw like 48 times and they didnt trail until the 4th Q. None of this is our fault but I fear a cleaner team wouldnt give us those chances.

Encouraging start, long way still to go but happy to see us start on the right foot.
I think this team will only get better as the season progresses. A lot of rookies are opening some eyes. Kudos to management and the coaches for selecting players that can instantly have an impact.
