Goop point. He was more out of position than in need of improving play.

I'd wager he may have still improved his play in addition to benefiting from the switch.

To be clear on your 2017 reference:  He did not play a single down of will linebacker for this team in 2017.
He played MLB on nickel sets and he played strong side LB on base downs with Poz in the middle.

The freedom he has now compared to 2017 is significant, and compared to 2019 it's major.

Thats a fair point but I guess what I'm getting at is he's an outside linebacker, he doesn't do well in the middle. Regardless if it is strong side or weak side his play has been much better there. Must play better into his skill sets or something or he's just overwhelmed in the middle.

I don't remember off the top of my head how Jack played in the sets he was called to be Nickle or MLB in 2017. But we have a whole year to see how he did, and it wasn't great. So it's pretty clear he needs to stay outside and maybe transition when he gets older and slower(or retire.)
Like Upper said, he can't shed blocks. That's real bad in the middle...

Part of the gashings we took last year.
Lageman has always been a great analyst.

Can we please get a decent play-by-play announcer. Frangie [BLEEP] sucks!
Jack gonna make the Pro Bowl this year and prove he was worth his contract while playing his right position. I was one of the few that was fine with the extension he just needed to play OLB. Glad we paid him and not overpaid Yawn and robbed the Rams for 2 1sts and a 4th and not had to pay one a corner a record deal who arguably isnt even a top 5 corner.
He's always been a WLB, it's just that when he got here Telvin was in that spot. I remember that 1st year the team said he's better at WLB but hey...we had Telvin. So they stuck him at SLB and planned on MLB.
