This fake news story is nothing more than a distraction from tomorrow's debate.  It has nothing to do with the President's tax return(s).

If he releases his returns and people start attacking his wealth, that would be worse than them saying he's a crook to a narcissist. Keep in mind, the economy and taxes are not really my thing. My wife does our taxes, and I've never really bothered to learn the ins and outs of the system. I am completely dependent on others to tell me what's true or not true in this regard. I am speaking strictly hypothetically with regards to his psychology.

That's ok. 99% of us are too. That is why we hire accountants or other qualified people (your wife) who know what they are doing.

Nobody will argue he isn't a narcissist, but that doesn't make him a criminal.

The trend I see is that the left always tends to shoot for the stars to drag someone through the mud, and when they land on the moon, it doesn't seem that bad. It's like an AG emotionally charging cops with 1st degree murder then when they get off for manslaughter, people are disappointed.

Does anyone doubt the MSM and political enemies (same thing) would cherry pick his returns for information to present without context or full disclosure in attempts to smear him?

I've always been ambivalent about the release of tax returns from any candidate. It just doesn't really matter to me. As weaponized as the democrats left every other bureaucracy, I'm sure the IRS is loaded with leftist stoolies, a la Lois Lerner. If something in his returns screamed scandal and corruption, Schiff for Brains would have gotten his 'whistleblower' by now.

Exactly. The media has not shown themselves to be worthy of receiving his tax returns because they will not factually report the overall picture and instead produce shock headlines your everyday layman reads.

When Trump wins in November, I hope he never speaks to the MSM again.

I hope he never speaks again. I hate his voice.

Trump denies the report, which he could easily disprove if he released his tax returns, but he still refuses to do so.

There is a simple solution to this but the very people that are screaming bloody murder over $750 are the same ones that oppose the fair/flat tax.

Yes. A flat tax is something I've wanted for years.

Everything is always fake news with you people. The only fake news, comes from the Trump camp. Deception, deflection, distraction, denial.

(09-28-2020, 07:27 AM)The Real Marty Wrote: [ -> ]But Trump can easily refute this so-called "fake news" by releasing his tax returns.  Why doesn't he do that?  He's the first President in modern history to not publish his tax returns.  Why is that?

He can deny all he wants, but he has the evidence, and he refuses to publish it.

It's probably even worse than what the article says. That's why he won't do it.

If trump doesn't pay taxes, why should we? This just proves how broken our system really is. It rewards the rich and it always will. People who are already rich pay nothing into the system, because they find ways to get around it, while the middle class and the poor pay so much of a percentage of their income,  they can't afford everyday needs.

I'm so sick of hearing anything that shows Trump in a bad light, being called "fake news." His "cronies" also blame anything bad he does on Obama or Hillary, even though any thinking person knows this is ridiculous. It's all about deflection and deception.

4 years into the game, how can you expect anything with anonymous sources to be called anything other than what it is, fake news.

Bruh....  u spoiled it.
It's interesting how people continue to mistakenly conflate income and wealth.
This reporting merely shows us Trump's abject failures as a businessman. All one needs to do (and most of y'all won't) is follow the money (or lack thereof) and everything makes sense. Trump has always been a horrible businessman, a con man who tried to bilk his family out of their share of his father's fortune. And yet, so many idolize him. It's the most baffling phenomenon I've ever witnessed.
(09-28-2020, 07:47 AM)Lucky2Last Wrote: [ -> ]There is another reason he wouldn't want his taxes released: He's a narcissist. This is a point that most of us agree upon, yet it's discarded by the right when it's convenient and by the left when it's convenient. If you filter most of Trump's actions through that lens, you can probably arrive at the motivation for most of his actions. I think he doesn't want to release his taxes because he doesn't want people to know how much he makes. I think there are people that vastly over-inflate Trump's worth, and he enjoys that.

Not only will it reveal Trump's true net worth, it will make him vulnerable to rivals and creditors.

The "people" who vastly overstate Trump's worth is Trump himself.
It's good to see how excited all the lefties are that Trump and his employees' tax information was stolen, given to the press, and then published for all the world to see. Helps us to know who is fine with weaponizing the media even if it means breaking the law.

Here's the best fake news I've seen yet from this thing: "Mr. Trump, by contrast, is running a federal government to which he has contributed almost no income tax revenue in many years."

How many times does it need to be drilled into your dense liberal skull that tax returns don't reveal anybody's net worth?
I wonder if the Dems have a problem with this.  I guess not because these companies back Dem Campaigns.

Earlier this year, ITEP reported Netflix and Amazon paid no federal taxes. Other companies on this list include Chevron, Delta Airlines, Eli Lilly, General Motors, Gannett, Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Halliburton, IBM, Jetblue Airways, Principal Financial, Salesforce.com, US Steel, and Whirlpool.Apr 11, 2019

I have a problem with ALL of it. It's the rich not continually paying the same percentage of their income that the rest of us have to. We need a flat tax with absolutely zero loopholes.

The lobbyist' your politicians pretend don't exist will never let this happen.

It's all moot. It will be our grand children's problem to deal with.

Then why are you upset at Trump?  The current tax structure allows the privileged in America to take advantage of loopholes and by golly they do just that.  Every [BLEEP] in DC is doing it.  Every reporter at the NY Times is doing it.  Every lobbyist that is actually running this country is doing it.  Heck even you and I are doing it just not at the same level.

If you want to stop this behavior then the first step is to reelect nobody.  Next demand a Constitutional Amendment that every issue voted upon by congress is a single issue.  No riders, no add ons, no multiple issue bills.  One item straight up and down vote.

I wouldn't expect his own tax returns to reveal anything illegal.   Nobody does that.
I don't understand why people of little means would desperately stick up for billionaires not paying income tax. It's bizarre.

It'l shouldn't even be a political thing. Who isn't mad that the system is set up for the rich?
The NYT "bombshell" OP-Ed revealed nothing that was not already known.  It has nothing to do with President Trump's (our President) personal taxes.  They (democrat controlled media) are trying to change the "news" cycle away from the debate tomorrow hoping that the country won't see Biden get exposed.  The democrats are desperate to not let the debate happen.

Jill Biden even forbade the "gaffe" topic to come up in her softball interview yesterday.

I for one am happy when people pay the government the least amount legally possible.

Trump didn't write the tax codes he is legally abiding by. Maybe you should chase that down...

I don't know what you mean by "people of little means".

Free Market Capitalism is by no means "set up for the rich".  The very concept is what allows people to be rewarded for hard work and is part of what made America so great.
