...it's not even funny. The only team who has looked halfway competent in the whole AFC South just got shut out by a 3rd string QB. Their vaunted defense had 27 points put up on it.

The gap between the best teams in this division and the top teams in the NFL is so cavernous that it's laughable to believe that any of us could win the playoff game we're required to back into by default.
Theres a huge gap in talent across the entire league. Tons of bad teams right now
The road team on Thursday night is always going to be behind the 8 ball.  Couple that with having to play a well coached team who has had the same system in place for well over a decade and even with Brissett at QB it was going to be a tall order for the Texans to come out of there with a win.  It's not like Brock has proven anything yet.  Let's not jump to conclusions so quickly about how the division is going to shake out against the conference in week 3.

Most teams lay an egg from time to time unless you have Belichick as your coach.  Must be nice.  The Texans absolutely laid an egg tonight, I just wouldn't rush to judgement about anyone in the AFC South just yet.

Colts win it again.

Oh yea? What makes you say that? Was it the great game they had week 1 at home vs. Detroit. Or was it that extremely impressive showing they had in Denver last week?
After tonight, the F'in tacks look the best. Which makes me upset. 1 if the tacks never win another game it's too soon, and 2 it looks like another year where the division is ripe for the picking and we're gonna blow an opportunity to establish ascendence. (Being a Jags fan 101)
The story on nfl.com described the AFC South as "the minor league of the NFL".

Hard to argue that at the moment.

What's important is continuity of coaching. Four more years?
But all you have to do is make the playoffs and get hot at the right time.

This division is a joke across the board

No surprise the Texans got their behinds kicked. But lets see how the teams gel as the season goes by.

NFL often stands for " NOT FOR LONG".

In the case of the Jaguars,   I think back to where the Chicago Cubs were in 2014.  Most of their talented players were in the minor leagues.   For the 2015 season,  most of their top prospects arrived in the Majors for the first time with a new manager ( with a proven track record  ),  Joe Madden.   The Cubs made the playoffs last season and advanced a round.   This season,  they have the best record in baseball.    If the Jaguars find the right coaching formula,  maybe all of the young promising talent will come together like it has on the north side of Chicago in a different sport.

In the last 11 seasons,  the Steelers,  Giants ( twice ),  and Packers proved this.
And once again, this makes me sick. Just like last year we will have a weak division ripe for the taking, and once again we will find a way to snatch last place from the jaws of division winner.

Correct.

Ravens too (although they were the #3 or #4 seed,, they had to do the playoffs on the road after the WC game @Denver @NE).

Getting a bye-week and some home-field advantage games is still preferred. But, you're right. It seems that what matters most is just getting into the playoffs. If a team has been playing well, and gets "hot" at the right time, they can go all the way regardless of how the regular season records went.

AFCS Division champ is guaranteed at least a #3 or #4 seed home game, just like the Ravens Superbowl team.

Just get in.
It's why divisional games are so important. It's why you build your team to win the division. All you have to do is make the playoffs, then you have a chance to shock the world. Of course, none of this happens under Gus though.
The AFCS division as it relates to the Jags: so close and yet so far.

There is no "right time" to get hot. You have to start the year hot and stay there.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

You want your team playing it's best football at the end of the season and the playoffs.

Tell that to last year's Falcons
