Even with that considered, the price tag is WAY too high for what he brings to the table.

Here's something interesting.  This article says that if the Eagles trade Wentz, the cap hit is $28 million, but if they keep him, the cap hit is $34 million.   So I take back where I said they are stuck with him.  I was thinking it would be a bigger cap hit to trade him or cut him than to keep him.   But apparently, it's the other way around.

Still, no one is going to trade for that contract.

That's not what I see. OTC shows that from 2021 forward he has 3 prorations of 9.27M and a final prorate of $6M of his signing bonus that would accelerate to the current year. That means if they deal him, the hit is 33.8M. Granted, the 2021 hit is on the books whether they keep him or not, the total hit is around 34M whether he's there or somewhere else, and I really don't see any team trading for his rights based on the salary portion of the deal. If they cut him, I think they also have to pay his 2021 salary, which is guaranteed, so that hit would be closer to $60M.

The team's cap is HORRIBLE (2021 projection 65M over), and I can't see any significant cuts/trades that will improve their books. If they do shop him around, they are probably gonna get fleeced.
