Current Win-Loss Record of teams we each face: (Assume the Steelers win tonight, not that it matters)

Jaguars: 124-99-1 (.558)

Jets: 131-93 (.584)

Here are the games that can affect SOS and how: (I'm going to give the Jets the best case scenario and see where it ends)

Broncos @ Chargers
The Jaguars only face the Chargers, so a Chargers win here helps the Jets. So let's give the Chargers the win here.

Browns @ Jets
If the Jets win, its meaningless. But both teams face the Browns anyway.

Dolphins @ Raiders
If the Dolphins win, it's a +1 for the Jets over the Jags in Opponent Wins. (Since the Jags face the Dolphins once). If the Raiders win, it's a +1 for the Jets over the Jags in Opponent wins (since they face the raiders, while the Dolphins do not) So this outcome is mostly irrelevant, but let's give the Dolphins the win here since it shifts the Jags sos higher.

Colts @ Steelers
This game is meaningless because both teams face the Colts, but the Jags face them twice and also face the Steelers. But we'll give the win to the Colts here.

Bengals @ Texans
Jets want a texans win, since the Texans face the Jags twice.

Bills @ Patriots
Doesn't matter. Divisional matchup for the Jets with teams that the Jaguars do not face.

Falcons @ Chiefs
Jets want the Falcons to win here. Since they face the Chiefs, but the Jaguars do not.

Bears @ Jaguars
If the Jags lose, the Bears notch another win on their belt. If not, the Jets probably get the top pick anyway.

Giants @ Ravens
Jets want the Ravens to win, since the Jags face them but the Jets don't.

Titans @ Packers
Jets want a Titans win here, since the Jags face them twice rather than once.

Vikings @ Saints
Jets want the Vikings to take this.

49ers @ Cardinals
Doesn't matter. Jets face both.

Lions @ Buccaneers
Jets want the Lions to win, since they face the Jags.

Rams @ Seahawks
Doesn't matter. Jets face both.

At the end of Week 16 this would put both teams here, in the jets best case scenario:

Jaguars: 137-102-1 (.572)
Jets: 140-100 (.583)

Now let's see if things continue in the Jets favor by enough in week 17:

Ravens @ Bengals
Jags face both, Jets face neither. Doesn't matter.

Dolphins @ Bills
Jets face both teams twice, but the Jags face the Dolphins so they want a Dolphins win.

Steelers @ Browns
Jets want a Steelers win since the Jags face the Steelers, while the Jets do not.

Chargers @ Chiefs
Jets want a Chargers win since the Jags don't face the Chiefs.

Jags @ Colts
Again, a Colts win is a must here for the Jags anyway and we're assuming both teams lose out.

Jets @ Patriots
Same as Jags @ Colts.

Titans @ Texans
Jags face both, Jets face neither. Doesn't really matter.

Raiders @ Broncos
Jets face both. Doesn't matter.

Packers @ Bears
Jags face both. Jets face neither.

Vikings @ Lions
Jags face both. Jets face neither.

Seahawks @ 49ers
Jets face both. Doesn't matter.

Cardinals @ Rams
Jets face both, doesn't matter.

Best case scenario for the Jets:

Jaguars: 147-108-1 (.576)
Jets: 149-107 (.582)

Meaning Jaguars cannot lose on SoS tiebreaker as long as both teams lose out.
I'm not worried about the majority of paranoia going around regarding this topic.

The ONLY thing that I'm worried about is us potentially winning a game and the Jets losing out.

The rest of the ideas going around are just fodder - some of which has been/will be propagated by major sports media outlets to "throw a wrench" in the situation.

Lawrence is the real-deal and will be the first pick regardless of who is picking and he's not going to return for another year at Clemson after everything he's achieved and risk potential injuries from his future.

Especially given what he had to deal with COVID almost cancelling his junior season and the possibility it could linger and cause issues with college football next year. Who knows what other outside situations could affect stuff next year.

It's not like the money will be different between 21 and 22. Might as well cash in, take the sure thing, and trust a league that is well set up to deal with any possible outside issues.

Thank you!! You literally just answered my question by doing all this. I really appreciate you taking the time to do all that, makes complete sense now.
The Bengals just won against the Steelers. What that means is we are guaranteed *at least* the 2nd overall pick. Even if we win out and the Bengals lose the last two, that puts us at 3 and 13 and the bengals at 3, 12 and 1, which is a higher win percentage.

TLDR: All this means diddly-poo if we sneak a win in before the end of the season Tongue
