He was alright but no big loss.

Hunter Henry, come on down

I'd make the first offer to Jonnu Smith. Not as injury prone plus we weaken a division rival.

Exactly!
Free agency has begun before it begun.

They must have someone lined up because I don't think they'd cut Eifert unless they knew they could get a replacement.

He wasn't great but certainly not terrible either.
@Puttin' all our eggs in Josh Oliver's basket@

He misses 2 games last year.  He's healthy now.  Give me the better player

That would be a mistake. That dude cannot stay healthy.

Smith is more explosive, but it probably won't matter. Both might get franchised.

I remember when people said this about Fred Taylor after his first couple of years.

I still expect the yearly "this is the year for Josh Oliver, we don't need a TE!" thread sooner or later Laughing Laughing
Mercedes Lewis for the next 10 years, bank on it

I don't think anyone specific is "lined up".  Eifert had a roster bonus owed to him if we didn't cut him now.  If he was going to be cut, now was the time.  I fully expected this.
I would not be surprised to see Eifert test the market, and then re-sign with the Jags at a lower amount than
he was due to make this season. Also, we'll see another TE, either in FA or the draft. They will not rely on Oliver given his injury(s) history.

All of our TEs are injury prone  That was one of Dave Cadwell's trademarks.

Yes, but Freddie T used to chase chickens in his spare time down in Belle Glade Florida.  I don't see anything about Josh Oliver chasin' chickens.  For all we know, being a California native, he's probably hanging out on Snapchat or something.
I still like Oliver...

Why? He has done nothing except be hurt.
