Same here. I also find myself wondering what the impact will be if he fails. As high as expectations are and with the investment people are making into the idea that he's going to be savior, if he somehow busts or even is just "average", the effect could be devastating to the franchise.  I'm as hopeful as anyone though. While there's no such thing as a sure thing, Lawrence is about as close as they come.

Honestly build a good roster and have good coaching and the QB will be a part of it. We don't need a savior it is good to have potential.

If he fails it will be what it will be. Enjoy the ride

Agreed. That's a pretty level headed take but a sizeable portion of Jag Nation seem to favor the savior or bust mentally. Those are the ones who will be bitter if he's not the next Elway.

I'm personally hoping a lot more attention is going to be focused on building great offensive and defensive lines. Even today, that's how winning teams are built.

Amen!

Personally, I am confident that Lawrence's floor is that of Andy Dalton's level, in his prime. Even if he plays at that floor, it is still better than anything we've had in a very long time. He's as close to a safe pick as there is, even if he doesn't become elite.

I wanted Kerrigan in the first and Dalton in the second way back when. Smile
I have had a change of mind set. Yes there are a few of the very best at their position hitting free agency. I actually feel bad for some of these guys as this is no normal year. Next week as teams begin cutting is gonna be interesting. I expect that many teams will face the decision of moving money into future years or cutting real good players. The question is my mind is how prudent it is to invest a lot into these primo guys knowing they are one bad play from being out for the season or... spread that same money getting more just really good players. I say this because we have a history of some of our front line players getting hurt at the worst times. One thing for sure is I am glad that is not a decision I have to make....

My mindset is to get the BAP either in free agency or the draft.

"The rookie prospect?"

You referring to trevor Lawrence?

If you don't think he is BAP, who do you think is better?

Personally I think Kyle Pitts is more of a sure thing when it comes to rookie prospects than Lawrence is.

BUTTTTTTTT... he's a TE and QB is 1000x more important so it dosen't matter.
Pitts reminds me of Cornelius Ingram for some reason. Ingram was supposed to be a stud coming out of Florida.

It will be like the housing bubble fiasco in 2008. The Jags will have yet another great recession though I can't see how it can get worse than last season.

I always say though, things can always be worse.

Having a rare prospect guaranteed to you to take over the QB spot will change any QB-needy team's approach to acquisitions.

I don't necessarily agree with the assertion that Jax has been some predominately defensive minded organization until now, but whatever.  Compared to some teams they were I guess.

I also have to continue harping on all of this focus on "weapons" and "targets."  I'd much rather focus on QB protection and THEN  focus on weapons/targets. Everyone knows and agrees we need to make a move at TE and I'm very much on board.  I just wouldn't place it ahead of upgrading protection. We've got the capital to do both.

WR would be down the list for me as the article suggests.  Not a top priority.
If Trevor is what we think he is, he'll do great with better protection, an upgrade at TE, and a WR corps led by Shenault and Chark. Add a value pick and a mid tier signing maybe, but I'd not go big at WR in free agency or the draft, personally.

Yeah.  I'm looking for a TE, a Safety, and better OTs before a big ticket WR.

Got enough room in your boat for 1 more ? I would love to finally get a SS.

A Safety that will make WRs pay. Rodney Harrison, Adrian Wilson, Donivon Darius, Kam Chancellor type SS.
I was feeling a lot better before I saw all those reports from his press conference today. Other than getting Lawrence I feel bad about our direction. Tlaw better be real good.

I love how he said the QB position is most important take care of, and after that it’s the defense.  It makes me feel good about what he wants to do after we draft Trevor, build the defense and I 100% agree.  I also like how he talked about how important the dline is.  He feels he can coach up Cam and Taylor to get to their potential is nice to hear as well

The fact that he let one of the worst oline coaches of our generation persuade his opinion about tagging and potentially giving a long term deal to one of the worst offensive tackles of the last half decade or so does not inspire confidence sorry.
And now feeling even worse. Tlaw better be Mahomes + Ljax + Tom Brady combined good to carry this team.
Who knew Bullseye was a hippy...

Let's go back in time when Trent Richardson was Darren Sproles. So let's inverse that thought process

25th pick is already penciled in: Trevon Moehrig

So are we just accepting Cam Robinson as our starting left tackle?  Wow.  What an awful day for the Jaguars.

I've thought that since the time we franchised him. I absolutely HATE it, but I believe Warhop has duped Meyer and Baalke into thinking Robinson and Taylor will improve. Never mind the fact that they haven't gotten significantly better the entire time they've been here. I just pray it doesn't get Lawrence hurt. Slow-footed OT's are not gonna magically develop better footwork.
