Few bits from the article

“After Tom’s departure, the conventional wisdom was you need to clean house, you need to do this, you need to do that,” Khan said. “It was like, yeah, we need to clean house, but the people who created the mess need to be part of cleaning up the house and that included me.
“… It’s just that you’ve got to be informed. ... Who are the players who are the core part of the team? Who needs to get paid? You can’t pay everybody, regrettably, so all of that and we could have done a lot better job, I think, over the last few years on a lot of those. I talked about any business there’s micromanagement, there’s delegation, and there’s abdication, and I think there were times people could have said, ‘Hey, you know, you abdicated.’ But, to me, I just want to make sure there’s a right amount of involvement. … And I think there is right now.”

Meyer also wants to upgrade the Jaguars’ facilities. He spent 13 years at Power 5 schools and fought the facilities arms race, where schools built plush locker rooms and player lounges, state-of-the-art workout, training and rehab centers and high-quality dining options. He wants the same thing in Jacksonville, so he’s pushing for a standalone facility that will include all of the above plus coaches offices.

If the players are going to be pushed and worked hard, they deserve to be treated very well. And if they’re going to use acupuncture or martial arts or massage to recover, they should be able to do it at the team facility instead of going elsewhere.

“We call it the culture of excellence and we expect everything to be the best of the best, and right now it’s not here at Jacksonville,” Meyer said. “There’s a lot of great things that are, there are certain areas that are not. My job, and I push really hard especially when you talk about health and safety of players, I expect it to be the very best. So, we’re pushing hard, and our owner, Shad, has been fantastic to listen and to learn about what we expect.”

Meyer drafted Clemson running back Travis Etienne 25th overall and the plan is to turn him into a Percy Harvin-type player, which is why Etienne took nearly all of his reps at rookie minicamp at wide receiver.
ET, Robinson, Lawrence, Chark, Shenault is going to be lit

Completely agree, that's a real solid base to build from. Plenty of weapons for Bevell and Schottenheimer to work and scheme for. For years teams have stacked the box on us but with Lawrence, D's are going to have to defend the deep ball.

Still not 100% sure about Etienne being a WR. As it was individual drills Lawrence couldnt do hand offs to Etienne so will be something to look for when we hit OTA's and Training camps.
ETN is gonna be all over the field.

Hey ETN, what position do you play?

"Offense"

In my limited views of ETN on screen he reminds me of MJD. I'm not sure if it's just his stature (short but powerful) or maybe his personality, but anyone who gives me MJD vibes is solid in my book. I'll have to check out some game clips to see more of him.
Is shoelace available?

Why?  He was never good at any level.  He was on the coaching staff last year though

Very solid base. ET is going to be that player that just needs to get the football in his hands just like Percy Harvin.

I think Meyer said “ok I know he can take a handoff” so he put him with the WRs to get that extra work in.

Agreed. It's not often the tape of both your QB and RB playing together so hopefully that means we dont the learning curve.

In a way I hope we use Etienne like the Saints use Kamara. When they had Ingram who was a tough runner, Kamara would come in against a tired D and blitz them with speed. Plus you can use him for screens and motion him outside or just use him as a decoy as D's cant let him run free

If we can use Etienne like that...oh baby

Meyer said the biggest reason besides getting ETN reciever reps, was to give Trevor's surgically repaired shoulder a break since he was the only QB in camp and ETN was the only RB.

I was joking. Someone posted the offensive weapon statement. You know shoelace position was offensive weapon so I was being unfunny it seems.
I wonder if Shoelace or Matt Jones could play QB in today’s offenses. I doubt it...because at the end of the day, a QB still has to make the big boy throws. As good as a runner as Russ is, he still has a rifle. Same with Lamar Jackson.

The guy I always go back to is Mark Brunell. He had 480 yards rushing in 1995 which led all QBs. I think Jeff Blake was 2nd with 300 something yards. And Jim Kelly and John Elway were also top rushing QBs in 1995. Brunell came back in 1996 and led all QBs in rushing again. It was a different game back then.

Shoelace just didn’t have the arm to be a QB, the hands to be a WR, and he wasn’t good enough to play RB.
