Sounds like a class act.

The funny part? If the payment did not go through the courts, it may not be an "official" payment and he may still show $800 due. SMRT.
This looks like a YOLO moment that's gonna backfire somehow..
Personally, I think it was a dick move.  Alimony, OK.  But it's your [BLEEP] kid.  I paid my child support AND helped mine through college.
I think anytime anyone pays a large sum in coins it’s always dick move.

Can't disagree with you there.
Some people are just jerks. That money is for his kid. It's basically like a slap in the face to his own child.
His daughter has not talked to him in years. The article does not say why or whose fault it was. Maybe the ex turned her against him, I don’t know but…. I at least would have had a little more class, paid it like I always did and leave it at that

What does that matter?  It's HIS kid.  He is obligated to pay child support.  Buck up and be a [BLEEP] man about it.  The penny stunt tells me all I need to know about this clown.
My ex husband continued to pay child support for his daughter for five years (until she turned 18) even after he found out she wasn't really his. He'd raised her since birth and as far as he was concerned he was her father and she was his daughter. Dude had a laundry list of issues as a husband, but taking care of his two kids and his ex wife's two sons from a previous marriage as if they were his own was the one thing that didn't make him a complete douche.

I've never said that out loud before. Y'all are good therapy. Lol.

When they do the questionnaire, tell them any defendant in a trial is guilty or they wouldn’t be in trouble. That should get you out of it. Ninja

Or that your favorite discussion topic at the bar is Jury Nullification. That works too!

I read that first sentence and my first thought was that you had had an affair and had a daughter and told your husband it was his.
I don’t have a problem with him paying his last payment in pennies.

Atleast he paid all of his child support. Good man in my eyes.

Stupid college town cops made a rule that they would not accept coins to pay parking tickets. That is the only time I have wanted to act in such a passive aggressive manner.

The lesson I tell our kids - "Be the bigger person."

If the wife was a hemorrhoid, don't give her or your daughter reason to think you are just as much of a hemorrhoid, if not more. If the kid never spoke to you of their own free will, this gesture certainly isn't going to help those matters.

I've seen both sides of this story. The mother convinces the daughter that dad is a horrible person, and only in adulthood can dad and daughter mend fences and actually have a healthy relationship; the absent dad that never did anything to help, but the daughter still wants to meet him, and only after doing so, realizes mom was right to keep their distance.

It stinks when the adults act more juvenile than the children.

stay classy.

and as stated before, dumping a barrow full of pocket change on someone's lawn is not usually deemed an "official" payment, especially if the order directs payments through more official channels. So "paid" might actually be more "gifted" or "littered" in the court's eyes.
