God forbid the Jags go down on heir opening offensive drive at the 5+ yard line and line up Timmy at FB, because we will score and Twitter and this website may blow up to insane levels.  (Obviously I’d love this too, despite hating the idea for years, for Tebow.)

I say we will win 6-7 games and be exciting.

I also submit that the next person in the Ring of Honor is Bullseye.  He’s the best poster, the GOAT, and it ain’t close.  FBT years ago was right there…..and he deserves a ton of credit too, but Bullseye is the Icon.

If you disagree, please don’t hurt my feelings, and make me go to the Modis after meeting the guy by the hotdog cart.  I hope the World’s Greatest approves, and don’t care at all if The Mad Dog does.

FBT is the Babe Ruth and Bullseye is Hank Aaron. How about that? Mad Dog was the wonderful antagonist. I think he deserves a second and third and fourth chance. His opinions about the team and players were often contradictory and laughable, but I don't recall him making personal attacks.
Jags will win the Super Bowl, and go undeafted in thier division on my Madden 22.  Laughing Laughing

seriously though i am expecting a more competive team ,and a coach that coachs instead of standing with hands on knees.

Im guessing we grew up in different eras.  In my day it was “sitting there with your thumb up your [BLEEP]”.

Not sure if this has been posted, but it’s a pretty good, although very optimistic 2021 Jaguars season preview.

in today's world the biggest concern is just whose knees the coaches' hands are on.
I'm concerned that Lawrence was restricted due to hamstring issues. It's not like he was doing much running.
Brunell played his last meaningful season in 2006, at which time he was ranked 26th on the NFL’s all time passing yards list.

Taylor retired 17th all time in rushing yards

Jimmy retired 12th all time in receiving yards

Keenan retired ranked 20th all time in receiving yards

Outside of Jimmy Smith, Brunell ranked the highest on the all time list. How could anyone say Brunell was average, or even day he was good. Mark was great/elite. Chris Berman, who hates the Jags, said in 1998 on NFL Priiiiime Tiiime, “Tommy, is there anybody doing it better than this guy right now?” It was the game the Jags beat the Bucs in Fred Taylor’s rookie year.

That’s a high compliment by a guy that’s been around pro football for a long time.

Mark deserves to be in the Pride of the Jaguars.

Be honest, you didn’t know Brunell was ranked 26th on the all
time passing yards list did you ?
My perception of the team is the same as it was when the bulk of free agency and the draft was over. The OL is below average, the DL is average at best, and the TE position is atrocious.

On the contrary mods includnig ones named often made personal attacks about people.  Lots of fast food worker jokes.

This seems pretty accurate.  Lets hope the QB and RB groups can play at really high levels or this could be another long year.

Agree about Bullseye, even if I somewhat differ or outright disagree with some takes I can always understand and justify his line of thinking; he's been carrying the board in terms of posts/threads/general content the last few weeks/months.

FBT ... please he's not even in the GOAT discussion, now this is just my opinion but tbh he had a tendency to power trip as a mod a bit and was beyond stubborn at times, his TC writeups were always must read content though. He's the "peyton manning" to Bullseye's "Tom Brady" and then Dakota (god I miss that man) is like the "Joe Montana" or "Troy Aikman" in the conversation with more rings/legacy than manning.
My perceptions are

Qb....rookie, but a good rookie should be better as a rook than anything we have seen in the last 10 yrs

Rb....we should have a solid rb room good to potentially very good

Ol.....average to possibly slightly above avg if they can get motivated and the above qb can get the ball out quicker

Wr....this group should be very good again depending a little on the above qb and ol

Te....below average more than likely unless oshaun brks out or he who shant be named outperforms farrel could be darkhorse but prly not

Dl.....average to solid can possibly be better than expected

De/Lb... there are some pieces if used right by cullen i think this group can be good to very good.

Db....defininetly better can be good if the d line/lbs perform well.

Brunell's not 26 on the all time list, he's 45, behind such luminaries as Kerry Collins (20th), Matt Hassleback (26th) and Steve DeBerg (33rd). Listen, nobody is saying Mark was average. He's just not elite, even if he did flirt with it for a couple of seasons. Gotta get off that bandwagon my man, it's a losing argument.

While I am greatly appreciative of the esteem you have bestowed upon me in these posts-far more than you can know-I do find such lofty comparisons/analogies uncomfortable for myriad reasons.

First and foremost, all I am is a guy who loves football in general and the Jaguars in particular, who is willing to be long winded in sharing my observations and opinions with you guys and gals. While my opinions and arguments may differ from most here from time to time, they are no more or less valid than any other poster here. If none of you who share my passion for Jaguars football posted here, I would not be here. Likewise, were I the only one posting here, whatever novelty any of you received by wading through my rants would quickly fade. In short, the shared passion for Jaguars football and the exchange of ideas is the key, not any one poster. The amount of knowledge and entertainment I've gained from other posters here is incalculable. Furthermore, other than differing opinions or countervailing arguments, I face no competition in getting my points across. Nobody tries to stop me from posting my opinions every time I log on to this site. In most dramatic contrast, the athletes to whom you compare me worked their entire lives to develop their skills to the very top of the history of their various professions, being opposed by players also similarly trained at the very best of their professions and their accomplishments are the results of their efforts and skills. I am particularly ill at ease with the Aaron comparisons, considering his accomplishments were achieved in part during Jim Crow segregation, and later in his career as he approached the home run record, he faced death threats by those who did not want to see him succeed. The most I have faced is the occasional computer issue, the occasional health complication, time constraints, and the occasional aggravating poster. Within those contexts, there is simply zero way I merit those lofty comparisons-even if offered in jest or a lighthearted manner as here.

That said, I will offer this in praise of or defense of FBT. Though he seldom posts here, for many years, in terms of content and popularity, FBT was "the man." As others have pointed out, his training camp reports were must read material. Having sat next to him during training camp practices, we saw the same things. But he excelled in formatting his observations in a very easy to read, easy to follow manner-something I never fully mastered. Furthermore, his arguments were as logical, coherent and well supportedas any I have read here. As for personal invective, though I have tried to keep things civil and respectful over the years, I don't have completely clean hands when it comes to that, either. If, for the sake of discussion, you were to continue with the Hall of Famer analogies, I would urge you to consider many hall of famers were not perfect either on or off the field, yet were still very much worthy of induction in the Hall of Fame, because the good outweighed the bad. Similarly, in my eyes, his contributions should outweigh his insults in my estimation. But again, I think most of the posters here are invaluable to the board, and should not be distinguished from other posters. I hope all of you continue posting here for a long time, and with a higher frequency. For one, I welcome your perspectives.

Well said.
Of course, you do in fact deserve the respect expressed by several posters, but well said nonetheless.

I, for one, would love to see an FBT training camp report for 2021. How great would that be. Fingers crossed.
Any word on open practices this year?  I'm guessing there may still be just enough covid protocol to prevent that, but here's hoping...
Hard to say much before the preseason games. The team looks much better on paper, but that means nothing. We should be better on both sides of the ball. Trevor should be a significant upgrade at QB. Replacing Conley with Marvin Jones should be a significant upgrade. I am concerned about our OTs. They fared badly last season so I hope Walker steps up quickly, or we risk getting into a Bengals-situation. The DL should also be better, and I am curious about how Josh Allen and K-Lavon Chaisson bounce back after injuries and a rough start. Our secondary should also be improved, but after C.J. was injured there was little left to play with.
