Danny Trejo recalls meeting Charles Manson behind bars in new memoir: He was a 'slick little wimp'

It was 1961 when Danny Trejo was locked up in Los Angeles County – not realizing one of the most notorious cult leaders of the 20th century would soon ask for his protection.

He's a righteous dude. I read an interview with him and he's fully up front about his drug and legal problems in his younger days. He's grateful for the people that got him to where he is today and never forgot where he came from.

When asked if he was tired of being typecast as the irritable old Mexican tough guy, he said "No, because I am an irritable old Mexican tough guy."
I’m not a fan of Bear Grylls since he was kind of a fraud in the “solo survival” genre. But his knowledge, experience and background are hard to beat. Having said that, Danny Trejo was on his show “Running Wild”. He was super open about his life and history as HB said. Apparently his uncle got him in trouble and after they got out he worked a crappy job and his uncle rolls up in a fancy new Cadillac or something. Telling DT he needs to come back and make some money. His reply was [BLEEP] no or something of the sorts. A guy that’s been in trouble, decide to turn his life around and use his fame to help troubled youth to make the right choices. Would’ve been easy to make his millions and call it a day but he chooses to help others where he can. Good on him.
