As a random forum poster and not someone who is part of the media I'm allowed to draw my conclusions much like you did with your post as I've not seen any reports stating what you said.
Cam signed the franchise tender fairly quickly, and he should feel fortunate that he's being well-paid for the upcoming season considering his less than stellar play so far in his career.
I bet he was as shocked as we were when it was put on the table. Lol no way he’s holding out for a long term deal he basically got all his guaranteed money that he would have gotten over multi years this year with the franchise tag.

It made sense, as Urban explained, because there really weren't better options in free agency, aside from Orlando Brown who commanded a lot for only playing left tackle a half season, and the aging, injury prone Trent Williams. He's a one-year patch until Little develops, or they draft someone else. I think they'll let him walk after the season.

Just curious to others' thoughts.... Would Cam be a better right tackle? or, guard?

They should have moved him to right tackle when he was coming off the ACL injury instead of drafting Taylor, who could ONLY play right tackle.

I think he would thrive as an RT, but if you want the big bucks you keep playing LT until they tell you not to.

Exactly. That's why Orlando Brown forced a trade so he could continue playing LT after filling in for Staley.

RT and LT are interchangeable now, so nah he'd get beat just like Taylor does. Both of them would likely make very good guards though.

Cam would not be a good guard. Not sure where anyone has any evidence of that, but just because someone is a bad tackle doesn't make them a good guard. Different positions on the line, different skill sets and body types needed.

Bad tackles are very frequently good guards. The different skill sets and body types between the positions is largely outdated. Tall, fleet of foot ex tackles like Ezra Cleveland are becoming more and more popular. Everyone was so shocked that the heavy road grading Trey Smith and Deonte Brown dropped so far in the draft, but they're not paying attention to the trends. Not just at interior oline, but everywhere. Big contested catch WRs that can't separate, Poz type thumping LBs, heck big thumping SSs too, fullbacks...if you can't move you aren't playing much.
Cam and Jawaan are among the heaviest footed tackles, but they would be solid movers at guard. They'd more than likely be quite good.

I think you might be painting this sort of switch too optimistically- but I’d absolutely try either or both at guard if they struggle at tackle again this year.
I wouldn’t say it “very frequently” works out, but it is def not uncommon.
