It should definitely not be regulated by the government. Very few things should be regulated. And anything that is regulated should be done with 100% transparency.

I love how you define crappy relative to the dollar amount the government is willing to send you of other peoples tax dollar that actually work for their "crappy" wages.

Is this the hill you want to die on? Fighting for lazy people?

It doesn't make sense to work if you will get paid more to not work. Either pay the people more than they would get to sit home, or quit your whining and crying.

Why are you continuing to ignore WHY people are able to sit at home? How can you be ok with your tax dollar supporting able bodied Americans who choose not to work?

Would you work for less pay just because you could? No. No one would. That doesn't make sense financially. I don't want my tax dollars going anywhere. I want to keep my tax dollars. I have made this very clear. I am against all forms of taxes.

The thing is the people refusing to work have zero skills anyone cares about or wants. They are garbage and they enjoy living off our hard work.

You don't understand how the economy works. In order for people to have jobs, the guy at the top has to make a profit. Otherwise he isn't going to care either

I see your point, but for me personally, not everything is a financial decision. An example is taking a little less money in a job that has more growth potential in the long run.

Back to the topic of the thread, able-bodied people are suing the governor for cutting off their additional pandemic welfare payment when an abundance of jobs are available. These people don't even know what kind of money is being offered for a job if they aren't even looking. Odds are they would actually make more if they went back to work.

Not everyone who is unemployed is garbage. Not everyone who is unemployed is just sitting at home and not looking. No one is going to take a job just to take a job if that job doesn't pay their bills. That just wouldn't make sense financially.

If one doesn't cut it there's more than enough for you to have two. If two doesn't cut it then it's not your employment that's the problem.

This isn't our grandparents world we live in anymore. Working multiple jobs is no longer a thing. Working 1, complaining, then signing up for government assistance is the new normal.

In our grandparents world, only one job was enough to support the entire family.

In our grandparents world, everyone had a trade or realized AND ACCEPTED they were nothing more than ditch diggers.

Today everyone thinks they can be a tech genius. Newsflash. They can't.

If you want people to work, pay them better. It is simple as that. It isn't that hard.

Enjoy spending 20 times more for what you buy.

Because they won't lose profits.

Most people in favor of an increased minimum wage lack the basic foresight of the long-term consequences of it.

Excellent idea.  Let's just blanket pay people more.  Got any idea what that's going to do to the cost of...um...everything?

I am open to hearing arguments on increasing minimum wage, but I feel that any fair minded person would agree that a blanket minimum wage simply doesn't cut it domestically.

I still don't understand where the magic number of $15 an hour comes from, and the 5 year increment to get there makes even less sense.
We need to reevaluate how we are thinking about these subjects. A minimum wage law is almost always championed by the powerful to keep their competitors at bay. We need to figure out how to funnel more money from the wealthy to the poor without incorporating the government. And, sorry, libertarianism by itself doesn't cut it. Honestly, I think the stock market is a major problem, but I don't have any clue how you can fix it.

A time machine to stop participation trophies.

That gave people that were losers a feeling of being a winner... they carry that entitlement still to this day. Not being rewarded was a way to light the fires of competition - make you do better. Those days are gone.

EDIT: And worse.. it made the winners feel like it wasn't a big deal to win.

I never said anything about a minimum wage. I am not for a minimum wage but I am for paying people better. If you don't have employees it is your own fault. Make your job more attractive. Whether it be better pay, better benefits or just be a better place to work. These companies need to stop making excuses.

This is not true. Minimum wage has been stagnant for years and yet prices keep going up.
