Why?  It preseason.  Give them the reps

I see why Urban wanted Beathard now
I know but it’s always said to be analytics and i hate analytics lol
Pick six yes!! Make it happen!!!

I’d assume in the regular season he goes for 1. In the preseason there is no OT, gotta go for 2 there and then a stop and win.

Uh well... in a practice game this clock management by Urban down the stretch was... eh whatever.
CJ Beathard should start against Dallas.
Urban just gave up? That will be good leadership for the Jaguars???? Quitting just got instilled into the culture!
the tds though from beart head were againest saints 3rd,and 4rth string defense. Start CJ next week  at cowboys ,and see how  bad he does then  ith no offenssive line protection.  Jags still need to fix the Offenssive line badly.

no one wants to admit that the coaches included.
Beathard is the only one that looks like an NFL QB

All I have is this message board... it's my only connection with other Jags fans... and when I come on here it's out of control negativity... I'm also superstitious... I feel like too much negativity is bad karma.... when we're winning a game I avoid this message board like the plague.... because in times past we'll be winning a game and I come on here and read all the negativity and all of a sudden something bad happens lol... and yes it doesn't matter if we're a good team or a bad team there's certain people on this message board that only point out the negative... I've read it!! Even in the championship game a few years ago.... maybe I just have to learn to ignore it.... I have two options ignore it or leave.... I just wish there was an equal 50/50 on this board It just seems like every other post is negative.... we're all jags fans we all love our team.... but people need to understand that it's only preseason... we're a new team new staff... and we may only win six games this year.... and yes we should have upgraded the offensive line... It was a huge mistake but I'm hoping that we can make the best of it... and fix it next year

I hear ya. But i think you’re putting too much weight on us controlling anything with this team lol. Also, not sure when you began as a fan, but the team has caused our negativity. We’ve been exactly where you are many many times before, only to have our positive outlook shoved up our pie holes lol. It’s like that old sang, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, three times, four times, five times…..

I became a fan in '95 after the browns sold.... and I was hooked after we beat the broncos in the playoffs..something browns could never do... and I never looked back...Jags fan all the way forever.... I know we're not going to do good this year... having a rookie quarterback and everything that's around it... I'm just optimistic for the future and hoping that we'll be a super bowl winning team

Trolls gonna troll bro. Nothing to see there.
Trevor was definitely pressured quite a bit in tonight's game and didn't look very comfortable for most of it. He did look a bit more solid in his last two drives and did a solid job of moving the ball down the field to help the Jags at least put a few points on the board. The O-line did not play well and that is concerning especially when it comes to making sure he's protected. He was getting hit quite a bit tonight and that's something not you want to see. I also thought that the play calling tonight was still pretty vanilla. And Urban had a bit of a defeated look on the sideline. That's not something  you want to see either, you don't want to see the HC look like he's overmatched.

CJ Beathard also had another nice showing tonight and I have to wonder if that may factor into the depth chart and if they may try and move Gardner.

Regarding the Saints, I thought that they looked good overall. Jameis had a nice showing and Calloway had some very impressive catches. Maybe the Lasik surgery has really helped Jameis and it could make a big difference in how he plays this year. That and being coached by Sean Payton who is creating an offense that suits Jameis. If they Jameis can cut down on his turnovers, maybe the Saints could have a nice showing this year. Their defense also played well tonight.

Time Will Tell.

NH3...

I think he made that argument last week. It’s against low grade backups, but still. Minshew reminds me of Tebow tbh. People like him more for the person than the player.

A mouth full of truth.

NH3...

as long as he plays us each week, he'd be a first ballot HOFer. In all seriousness, though, I noticed that he appeared slimmer than he did in his younger days, and he seems a different QB altogether from his time in TB. He did look good, a lot less gunslinging and took what the D gave.

Shifting gears, but not sure if it was discussed in the 35 prior pages, but it irked me that Urbz didn't even attempt to challenge the interception that was called an incompletion. It was close, and the ball really was not moving on the ground, and being down like we were at the time, it could have been very valuable to get the ball and field position at that point. Might be yet another aspect of the pro game he needs to learn. We ended the game with TO in our pocket, so it wasn't even like losing the TO for a failed challenge would have done anything negative.

While our starters and reserves continued to struggle, and appeared grossly outmanned, my underlying concern is less about the players, and more about the coach. I think Urban is in way over his head. I don't know if he didn't expect this to be as much of a challenge as it is, but it looks like we are unprepared and incapable of adjusting to downplay shortcomings or work to our strengths (this sounds like a broken record every year, no matter who is coaching).

Let's hope it gets better. It's going to be a long season.
