Being comped to Thomas is a good thing.
He was a very good rec. TE until he started phoning it in and didn't have a A-List QB to make him look better.

Lawrence is not Blake Bortles, so any TE coming here has that over Julius Thomas.

You are very correct. Just alluding to the $45 million five year deal he signed. He lasted just 2 years and did nothing to justify the contract. The blame, of course, goes to Caldwell who should have realized that Thomas would not be nearly the player he was with Peyton Manning at q.b.

It's probably about him not being a good team player.

Anyone that refuses to get the COVID vaccine had better be pretty secure in their position, because it's yet another reason to get rid of someone beyond just being overpaid relative to production.

The late 1930s called, they want their baddies back. Anyways, I got to watch a bit of the last preseason Pats game and Mac looked up and down, but you can see why the Pats are letting him start now. The promise is there, Mac just needs reps. Cam was meh, and has always had a poor character stigma follow him so maybe that played a factor, not based on whether or not he took a useless jab.

Pretty interesting. I'd take him.

Agreed. He definitely has deep speed. He displayed that a few times. Maybe he's not as consistent as you'd want him to be, but he'd be a good 4th or 5th.
just watched a flew clips, Tyron Johnson is an intriguing guy.. Has good speed and seemed to be a decent deep target, development guy for sure but if we want someone we can just send deep, would be a decent pickup.
CB Desmond Trufant was released by the Bears

What I am saying is, when you are first in the waiver claim process, and you might claim 5 or 6 players, that means you get your pick of the best 5 or 6 players on the waiver wire.   We can make some good selections, better selections than ones I would characterize as "flyers" or "salvage projects."

Every player available on waivers is cut for a reason. they're all flyers and salvage projects firstly. 2nd, Skura is 28 and has 4 years of starting experience at C/G. A younger player/draft pick took the starting job and he's released; that doesn't mean he's not talented or that he can't play.

I doubt you know who Skura is, or have ever actually watched him play tbh.  He'd be a great option on the interior line for the Jags, even as depth (definitely better than what we have in house right now) really odd to harp on the verbiage used rather than a specific rebuttal of the players strengths/weaknesses.
Dorset released
TE Richard Rodgers was cut by the Eagles. He'd definitely be an upgrade.

I agree, wonder if this was discussed during the Minshew trade.
WR John Brown was released by the Raiders. He's a nice speed receiver option.
UM has said WR, RB and TE are the areas of biggest concern. I can understand that. 5hat said, I still want Tyrell Crosby. I think he would immediately upgrades RT and makes 5he team deeper.
We need to take a hard look at other teams practice squads,. Those are the guys teams are trying to keep but don't have enough room

Better to just claim someone on waivers if you think they're good. Otherwise another team might do so.

Get a grip. The NFL has made it clear they're going to punish teams for carrying a lot of unvaccinated players. Like I said, players that wanted to improve their chances of making a roster got the vaccine. Players that wanted to make it political risked getting cut.

True, because you can claim before the teams get a squad practice

Agree with the Crosby take. Grab Johnson at WR from Chargers and TE Hollister from Bills and that is a good start to the waiver wire for us with those three IMO

Hollister isn't subject to waivers.
