Got all the first team reps this week too…..

Rightfully so.

It is a little head-scratchingly confusing for him to split reps with Minshew, with us shipping Gardner to Philly yesterday - but I think it's revealing that perhaps Minshew might have requested a trade after Lawrence was deemed the starter and our coaching staff honored his wishes.
I also really liked that they finally started playing to Trevors strengths. All most all of his snaps were out of shotgun and the two that weren’t, were naked boot legs.

Absolutely.

Helps get the offense in a good rhythm and nullifies the potential o-line deficiencies with Lawrence running a bootleg.

I think there is definitely some credence to the notion that our coaches holding back the playbook significantly after watching some of these plays like WR motions and whatnot.
A lot to love in this clip.  I love the pump fake around the 46 second mark for the TD

Its preseason, you shouldn't have looked into the play calling in the first place.  We wasn't going to show our hand

Exactly lol, the last game they opened it just a little to give Trevor and the offense some confidence

So then why are the 49ers showing their hand?

This whole “lets go vanilla to surprise the defense week 1” doesn’t make sense. They should have been practicing their real offense the first preseason game….. especially with a rookie QB. It hurts the 1st team offense more than it helps for week 1.

No it won't hurt the first team more than it helps because now they can open their playbook week 1 and go use plays that they like more that the Texans haven't seen instead of showing their hand early in the Preseason where Texans will be looking for it
NFL Research: Trevor Lawrence is the first rookie, and only the third player, since 2017 to record at least 130 pass yards and two pass TDs on 12 or fewer attempts in a preseason game.

While I do understand that notion, I think there are other things that you have to consider. Like what team is going to use preseason film as film to study for live regular season games. Seems unlikely that coordinators would put any of that in the film room.

Nice video, thanks for the share..
Can't say I've been this excited for Week 1 in a really long time. Even if it does take another year of offseason+drafts+etc to get into the playoffs. I'm ready for a whole season of just watching Trevor.

They should start sculpting his bust for Canton while he still has his youthful looks

Wide Margin!!!

Very nice.  Trevor is completing passes in spite of poor protection and receivers not getting separation.  That's what CPOE tells you.  Kind of a glass half full, glass half empty stat.

I did notice, against Dallas, sometimes he threw to guys who were well covered, but he threw very accurately and got the completion.
With Lawrence and Minshew sharing 1st team reps the first 2 games.. Beathard was the best QB now with Minshew gone Lawrence stepped in after dominated Dallas.. I sure hope this a sign for things to come cuz man that game was beautiful..

That seems like a very limiting selection of requirements. Get good field position? You won't get the 130 yards on the way to two TDs. Short passing game? You'll go over 12 attempts. Also depends on how much you choose to play your rookie.

Well, its still just preseason. Dallas isn't that great either, they might be the best team out of the NFC east but that isn't saying a whole lot. I see a bad preseason performance the same way I see a good one. It's nice he played well, but it still really doesn't matter or mean anything. We will find out soon enough how good Trevor is in about 9 days and over the next 17-ish weeks. It was nice to see him get something going for his psyche.
