Nevin Lawson has played in 88 games, started 68 and has 0 interceptions. Sounds like a perfect fit.
With Henderson and Herndon questionable, they had to add a healthy body.

If this guy can play semi solid at NB Campbell can cover one outside spot if Henderson and Herndon can't go.
...the need to add someone is there

This is obviously because he's so good QBs throw to the other side of the field?

Allow me this delusion, I don't ask for much.
Suspended 3 times.

We are picking him up right after serving a 2 games suspension to start the season.

Sounds like a great guy to have in the locker room.

In 2017, the season before then Lions CB D.J. Hayden signed with the Jaguars as an UFA,  he was in an outside CB platoon ( opposite Darius Slay ) with Nevin Lawson. Plenty has changed since then, including Lawson being a salary cap casualty, signing with the then Oakland Raiders, and 3 suspensions.  But back in 2017, Lawson had about 2/3 of the CB snaps opposite Slay.

Nevin Lawson was an aggressive CB, who was a good tackler.  With many passes broken up. The downside is the lack of Interceptions was indeed an issue, as well as his aggressiveness too often led to penalties.

All things considering, as a former 4th Round Compensatory Pick way back in 2014,   Lawson has a better and longer NFL career than what's typical from players in that part of the draft.
