Some of these threads are pretty entertaining. But, since no one can answer my question, "How would it work?" then we all have to admit, it's doesn't even rise to the level of fantasy.

Evidently you need to work on your imagination skills.

Lots of things happen without anybody knowing how they're going to work.

That said, the outcomes are usually poor, as I'm sure you'll agree.
I didn't realize civil wars had to be planned.

Well, how about you use your superior imagination skills and tell us all how it would work.

I'm saying it's not plausible.  If someone wants to say it is plausible, then they should be able to at least come up with some sort of scenario.  But the problem, as has been pointed out in a previous post, is that, unlike 1861, there is no logical geographical split.  In 1861, the dispute was between the slave-holding South, and the abolitionist North.  But now, the only geographical divide is between urban vs rural.   You can't say it's South vs North when red states and blue states are all mixed up, with Georgia and Virginia being blue states, Florida and North Carolina being purple states, California and New York being blue states, separated by 2,500 miles of red and blue states.  There's no way to divide up the country geographically.

But even beyond that, the biggest problem is, the United States in the 21st century is like a big living organism.  You can no more divide it up than you can cut off your arm and leg and have them live on their own.

And to put it in personal terms, what would my choice be?  Between socialist blue states that want to tax and spend their way to financial oblivion, and red states ruled by people [edited out the part that pissed off Homebiscuit] ?  That's a terrible choice.

No, let's face it, we are stuck with each other.  We have to work things out and get along.
Go to a blue state, Marty, because your childishly simplistic view of what a red state is precludes any ability to adapt.

Okay, if that's the problem you have with my post, then I will edit it out, because it's not really germaine to the point I wanted to make.

Don’t take it out on my account. If you wish to portray millions of people in such shallow terms, be my guest.
