Marrone was one bad player call away from being the same and was run out of town. The less mental scar tissue, the better.

But wasn't there...

He's smart. Problem here is offense. Not defense. He had Kyle Shanahan and Matt Ryan to work with in Atlanta. He would have to have an incredible staff offensively to keep his head above water.

He's probably looking to land elsewhere as well. Las Vegas could be more intriguing to him with Derek Carr and a decent core on defense to work with.

A mediocre, at best, previous head coach with a defensive line and coordinator specialty. He was not the right fit for the Jags anyway....no loss.

He didn't decline the interview, just declined to interview before the season ends.
