A podcast I was listening to was trying to convey just how bad they thought the top of this years draft was so they played a little game with the presumed top 5 picks in this draft. They determined Thibodeaux probably goes in the 8-10 range and no one else in this draft would go in the top half of the first round.

On a big board I think I agree, but looking at the actual draft order I think it's even worse than that. 

Thibodeaux should go 8 or 9 but the Panthers and Broncos (this is before Chubb's injury and Miller trade) specifically were loaded at pass rusher so they don't take him. He might go 10 or maybe the Giants don't trade down and take him at 11. Hutchinson probably falls to the 20s. I think Jaelen Phillips was easily better than him minus the concussion issues. Neal should definitely be behind Slater, maybe he goes to the Jets at 14 or more likely the Raiders at 17. Stingley drops below Horn and Surtain because of his injury history, but it's not as scary as Farley's injury history so he probably goes to the Titans at 22 instead of him. Hamilton is the wild card since there was no safety near his level in last years draft. Maybe the Cowboys or Jets take him. 

Obviously that is a ton of speculation, but it was sobering to see just how bad this class is. Anyone disagree?

It’s always very hard to project these things year to year. However, I guess if we’re going to be drafting first, you would hope we would get at least one great player either way. There’s definitely somebody elite coming out every year.

Chase and Sewell would be perfect picks for the Jags if they were in the draft this year.

I’m still excited about Thibs but your point is true.

The best option would be to trade back. No way they'd be offered multiple 1st round picks, but I'd still move back to the 5-10 range and get an additional 2nd rounder in 2022 and 2023. That would give the Jaguars 5 picks in the top 70. These picks should enable them to address the 2 positions of greatest need- offensive line and wide receiver.

I would accept a somewhat low ball offer if we got more picks in 2023. It looks like a much better class (I know they always say that). If we could get a a pick in the late single digits to get Jameson and then a 2023 1st I would take that.

You are more patient than me, but I'd also take your trade. Jaguars won't contend for the playoffs in 2022 anyway so having possibly 2 top 10 picks in 2023 would be great.

My thoughts exactly. I don't like this year's class. Especially the projected top ten - fifteen.

If another team is willing to swap one's and fork over a future pick and a 3rd RD pick I would take it.

Grab Linderbaum at Center. Hamilton at Safety. Davis at Defensive Tackle. Burks at Receiver or McBride at Tight End.

I honestly feel any of those selections are safe on the opening night and you could justify taking any of them right around the 10th mark and down.

This class though reeks of 2013 for me.

Last years class was one of the all time great draft classes at the top imo with a couple QBs overdrafted. I think this draft is similar in talent to the 2019 draft minus the QB at the top in Murray and Bosa who i feel is much better. But after that I think its similar in talent, id but Thibs right there with Josh Allen who most thought was going 3 or 4 and Id put Hutch right there with Williams.
