I stuns me Jack is only playing on special teams.  He's too fast to not play LB.

Quote:I actually liked Gus' take; he also had a good point that with Rodgers he's dangerous outside the pocket and it may actually suit you better to keep him contained. The problem is there are still weaknesses in the secondary. And you need to be able to get home with just four rushers which we can't. If you look back at teams that have held the packers to lower scores, like the Chiefs in 2011, they played straight four rush with coverage outside. Your basic defense, but with the right players it's what is needed to beat Rodgers. He's too dangerous to flush out

This isn't being talked about enough. All the complaints about the pass rush, sure they weren't getting home every play, but they weren't specifically designed to. Keeping Rodgers in the pocket without anywhere to run is huge. And to be honest, might even be harder than just trying to chase him down for sacks. We probably could have gotten another 2 or 3 sacks if we flushed him out, but he probably would have thrown another 100+ yards in the process.

If his game plan was indeed to keep Rodgers in the pocket, they did a good job at that. Heck, we limited the guy to 199 yds passing. He had confidence in the backfield and it showed on paper. The interception killed us. Put them in great field possession and they capitalized. Rodgers also had an unbelievable TD that really couldn't be stopped right before half. This game could of went either way and I like that they had a plan for Rodgers. A lot of no-calls and a few bad situations for us was the demise.

If Jack's knee is a ticking time bomb, I'd rather he spend his time at LB than playing on special teams.

They played 64 defensive snaps Sunday.  45 of them were nickel with Smith and Poz on the field and no third linebacker.

Do you think he is ready to replace Poz as the signal caller?   Or do you want him to replace Telvin?

I think it really is a matter of him learning the book and being able to get guys lined up.  Then he starts taking Poz's snaps. Until then, there's not much to be done unless you want him playing those whopping 19 snaps at Skuta's spot. (Skuta looked pretty good in his limited work BTW)

I'm cool with being patient on this one. At least for now...

No pun intended, but that speed means jack if he isn't familiar with his assignments. Like someone else mentioned, he would not have been much of a difference maker if at all in the scheme against the packers and I think patients will benefit him and the team in the long run.

Yep, that as well. I give you 9/10 for being a ****, but 0/10 for anything constructive added.
