Full Version: Could four end up this guy?

After watching a bunch of videos on the guy.  I have to say quite a few things to consider.  Coughlin did have Big John back in the old days (also from tennesseee)  Coughlin loves to have fresh pass rushers to rotate.   Coughlin or Dave may not be high on Fowler.  And thinking out side of Yannick and Campbell it isn't much. To take one of the greatest in White sack record is impressive.

The guy hits like a tank and legal hits. And is really fast.  He has great technique, great vision, and decision making.  I do not see Barnett not making an impact year one.  And with Campbell and Jackson plowing the middle.  Could be just what Coughlin and Caldwell ordered.

The only question remains?  is he worth pick 4?  I think he is.  And could end up a surefire probowl pick in his nfl career.

Chill, Barnett from Tennessee
Just so we're clear...

Will Coughlin or Caldwell be picking?

Or will it depend on whether or not the pick works out?

As for Coughlin, he selected a running back at #9 in 1998, and that pick bore fruit that lasted well beyond even his own tenure.

While that is true the one ya trying to compare is nothing close to Taylor Made.

Been agreeing with you a lot. I agree with Barnett at 4.

What a douche move on my part. Been daydrinking when I say that, im sorry TealTime.
But im not feeling Barnett at 4. He's good, gets to qb consistent but I think he hit his ceiling in college.
I am high on Barnett as well. His production improved each and every year in college. He never took a step backwards. I said he's a dark horse option in another thread about three weeks ago.

I don't think taking him at fourth overall is too high. And honestly if Garrett - Thomas - Allen all go off the board before we get our selection I think in the war room they're having the following conversations.

1. Is Fournette worth it here at this point? Is he truly the BAP on offense that we have graded out? Would he fit in our offense? Is there a better or similar option available tomorrow or later on in the draft?

2. Barnett is worth a look here. But let's see if we can maybe lobby for a team to come up and get Fournette so we can trade down a little bit. (This is when Carolina has to come into the conversation).

I also think BARNETT could be an option at 4, but it's starting to get hard to ignore all of the smoke surrounding Fournette. Almost every mock draft that I see has us taking Fournette, which makes me believe this is due to information these guys are getting out of our building.

I really only think BARNETT would be that out of nowhere option for us, but things are appearing to line up as us taking a running back.
I don't think it's so much as information being leaked out of the building. I just think it's an easy argument and case to make at this point. It's not a stellar QB class at the top. And our running game has been average or worse since at least 2013. Yeldon doesn't seem to have enough in him. Ivory was a concern last year between the injuries and ball security. Robinson is gone I believe as well. And they were eyeing that Murray kid that's left OAK for another team already as well.

So they're pretty much looking at the top offensive prospect in the entire class to help bolster an offense that can't seem to get out of it's own way. We had a solid defense last year. We added to it this off-season. So it should take less pressure off the front office to address any glaring needs on that side. When you start seeing people compare Fournette to Peterson as a prospect. Your ears tend to perk up a bit. He has a rare blend of size and speed. Like someone pointed out before. When you get up close to this kid he looks like a damn linebacker instead of an actual running back.

No.

I think Barnett drops a bit, but he's not escaping the top 20.

I haven't really seen anyone mention this (so I'm probably off base) but Barnett looks a bit doughy and I can see him carrying around bad weight as he gets older.

No only a bigger top frame.  He actually weighs around what Fowler does.  And he get into Cam Robinson head in the game vs bama matchup.

Cook would fit our current system better.  Ya cant expect a though talented rb to excel in formations he has been subpar in.  And lets face it. Blake is not a in the pocket qb.
