I'm gonna take a wild guess and say the candidate that didn't answer directly was Leftwich. Why would you have Baalke in the room while asking that.

That would be my guess.

Minnesota has had 4 winning seasons since 2012, when Spielman came to the Vikings. He's had a losing record the last 2 seasons. He may be respected around the league, but there has to be better options than this. I know getting rid of Baalke is priority #1, but c'mon, can't we get someone from a winning organization that knows to put together a good roster?

That's 4 times as many winning seasons as we've had, plus a trip to the NFC champ gm.

I know we've all been conditioned to taking anything we can get, that is better than what we had, but can't we do better?

Didnt you want Ed Dodds?

Exactly.  If you look at the Vikings 2021 season, they lost 4 games in the last seconds (2 of which were missed field goals by their kicker).

Speilman had some really impressive drafts. Just never had the guy at QB. I'd be confident with him building around trevor.
Look at all the talent that team has raked in over the years. I think coaching and QB was the biggest thing holding them back. Cousins is good but is more of a game manager, he is Trevor Lawrence.
Ask Mike Zimmer what he thinks of Spielman. You won't get a ringing endorsement there.

Oh, ask the guy that he fired about him? lol

lol yeah such ridiculous logic. It’s a tough league. People have a lot of pride. As a GM, you have to do what you have to do. You’re not there just to make friends. Finding opinions of people fired by GM’s does not really help clarify their acumen.
Mike Zimmer is about on par with guys like Marvin Lewis and Jack Del Rio. They do/did enough to hang around and would make a play off appearance here and there.

They just never really did enough to get over the hill. Funny enough. All three guys are linked somehow with Lewis being the common link. I would put Ron Rivera in that same category.

Really good defensive minded coaches, just, missing something on the offensive side of the football to make a complete run out of it. Sean McDermott is fixing to be put on notice here soon too if Buffalo dips in production on offense with Daboll now with the Giants.
Are we gonna get a coach before the draft?
The lawsuit by Brian Flores could put a wrinkle in all their plans....Could be Leftwich is back in the running after all that...
I honestly think Byron is not an option anymore.
Yeah I think Byron had his chance and turned it down unfortunately.

After 18 years the local population finally got around to calling him Byron instead of Brian and now we don't hire the guy?  Perhaps we should go after David Jarrard.

Yep.  Apparently he is pissed about the Landing being torn down.
I am not really upset about Byron. I do not think a first time head coach is right for this current situation. I am 100% not sold on both a first time Gm and a first time head coach together taking over this team. We need some experience. Yes experience matters a ton!

He had first time coordinators as well

Wilson/Leftwich is not a good duo for this dumpster fiire.

I have been saying since the start I wanted an Experience Coach like Caldwell/Pederson who has done this before.  This is not an ordinary coaching job.  I think we need people who has been there and done that before.
