Pigskins was my first choice too, but then I got more on board with the idea that the new name shouldn't remind people of the old name. If the old name really caused that much in the way of hurt feelings, a clean break was needed, so my first choice went to Hogs. Warthogs would have worked too. Commanders works though.

That said...Washington Football Team has a weird sort of distinctive quality that I liked.
Growing up, I never knew their old nickname was considered racist, but not being native American, I may not have been aware of the nature of that name.
Butin light of the slur it represents, the name should have been changed.
I wasn't a Dallas fan, but agreed on all other counts. Old name was terrible, new name not great, and I kinda like the "Washington Football Team" distinction.
If I were a Washington fan, I'd be Pissed.
