If he used a racist word, and whoever hasn't ever done that, does that make him a racist? That makes almost everyone a racist.

That's a pretty good point, actually.  

But I still don't think the use of a racist term makes one automatically a racist.

Depends on the definition of racist being used I guess. Now that words can mean whatever an individual thinks they should mean we have no way to really communicate anymore.

I'll give a practical example.  I grew up in an all-white environment here in Jacksonville.  As a young person, many of my friends were obviously racist.  And I can recall that I used the N-word at least a few times.  The reason wasn't because I was a racist.  I used the N-word because I was young, and wanted to fit in with the group.  I do recognize racist feelings in myself from time to time.  But I don't think using the N-word as a very young person or occasionally having racist reactions to people makes me a racist.  I think everyone has had similar experiences and feelings, but I don't think everyone is a racist.  

Is the NY mayor a racist because he used a racist word?  Or was he just trying to impress his audience, like I was?  We can't automatically draw a conclusion.

The conclusion to draw is that he either doesn't understand that it's a racist term (which limits his qualifications for mayor IMO), or he knows that the double standard in this Country won't persecute him for saying it, or that he believes like many now that black people can't be racist.

What the @&#! ever. This was in 2019, He should have known better. His words hurt because of the very real people he was talking about. He intentionally went out of his way to target and hurt “crackers”. He’s a dirty, racist!!

The idea that words hurt is childish and something we need to move past as a society. Sticks and Stones is the way to go.

This is also true. 

If he had called a black person/group the n-word and was a republican his [BLEEP] would be on fire from the left. It doesn't matter your race, creed or color; if you have an R next to your name, no matter what you do or say, you're condemned in the court of leftist public opinion.

The guy is a normal democrat scumbag. I don't know if he is racist but he definitely thinks racist whites in the NYPD were holding him back. He gave his brother a commissioner job with no experience.
