Yesterday I Was Levi’s Brand President. I Quit So I Could Be Free.

I turned down $1 million severance in exchange for my voice.

When I traveled to Moscow in 1986, I brought 10 pairs of Levi’s 501s in my bag. I was a 17-year-old gymnast, the reigning national champion, and I was going to the Soviet Union to compete in the Goodwill Games, a rogue Olympics-level competition orchestrated by CNN founder Ted Turner while the Soviet Union and the United States were boycotting each other.

I read that a couple of days ago. I'm glad she stood up for herself.
COVID has really brought out the true nastiness of leftism. Questioning or resisting vaccine and mask mandates not only draws accusations of being anti-science, but by logical contortions only understood by them, racism and fascism as well.

Here Trudeau accuses anyone who supported the blockade as standing with those who wave swastikas.

This last year has been a very revealing insight into the minds of those who will stop at nothing for complete control under the guise of compassion.

I would honestly appreciate some input from the posters on this board who were so vociferous in their opposition to Trump but curiously remain silent as their party and ideology engage in open warfare to silence dissent. I’m not holding my breath.

Edit: As a timely segue into my original post, a previous staffer of Rush Limbaugh wrote a piece on the one-year anniversary of his death. In it she writes of the five lessons Limbaugh preached about leftism. The first one details exactly what is happening today.

One year without Rush Limbaugh – 5 lessons he left us on how to handle the left | Fox News

...This is a significant portion of Rush’s legacy. He may no longer be on the air, but his example and insights still reverberate. He prepped us, his beloved audience. To mark this somber first anniversary of his passing, here are some of the lessons he left on how to defeat the left:

1. Know your enemy. Rush’s core mission (besides attracting an immense audience so he could charge confiscatory advertising rates) was to give his listeners an ideological understanding of our political opponents on the left. The left’s handbook never, ever changes.

Page one of Leftism 101: Silence dissent. Everywhere and always. The left has no interest in engaging in the arena of ideas. Liberals despise the very notion of political opposition; that we have time and space in the United States of America "to say whatever we want," as Bill Clinton put it in 1994, ticks them off to no end. Freedom is their greatest nemesis; control of speech is the means to all their ends: accruing power.

They try to label all opposing ideas out of bounds, beyond the pale, fringe – so critics are marginalized, scorned and shunned (hence, their laughable "fact checks" and the lame "mis- dis- and mal-information [MDM]" gambit).

Leftism is built on intimidation and a tissue of lies, to which we are the fact check...

I don't know anyone on this message board who identifies as a Democrat.  Are you talking about anyone in particular?

"I would honestly appreciate some input from the posters on this board who were so vociferous in their opposition to Trump but curiously remain silent as their party and ideology engage in open warfare to silence dissent. "...remain silent as their party and ideology..."
Ok, dude... I'll translate. If you voted for Biden as the superior alternative to Trump, how can you remain silent as the left actively and openly targets dissenters? Where's the outrage?

I think he can answer the question for himself.  He doesn't need you to translate for him.  I just want to know if he has anyone in particular in mind.  Because it sure isn't my party and ideology.  He made a vague swipe at unnamed people.  I just want to know who he's talking about.

Now, if you're asking me directly, of course I don't want the left to actively and openly target dissenters.  Give me a specific case and I'll tell you if it rises to the level of "outrage."

I can name three who have expressed their voting preference: NYC, MarleyJag, and RJ (although he isn't around anymore, but he would engage). Cleatwood makes drive-bys but he hasn't outright declared his voting choice. However, his criticisms are aimed towards the right. If he's made a criticism of democrats, I don't remember it. KodiakJag was another TDSer who disappeared when the election was over. I'll give Hurricane credit, he levels criticisms toward the left as well. He's one of the few.

Btw, Marty, I suspect you're adamant about me naming names because of the belief you'll be singled out. I get it.

I don't care if you single me out on anything.  Ask me any direct question, and I'll answer it as best I can.  I was curious if you were talking about me, because, as you already know, I do hate Trump.

I voted Biden even though I usually vote Republican.
I don't see dissenters being targeted.  OAN still exists.  Tucker is still on prime time basic cable every night.

Drive-by!

I don't submit to either party because there are ideas from both sides that I can agree on. I don't understand some cancel culture or all these crazy pronouns that the far left throws out there. I've actually asked some of my former students to break it down for me and I'm still lost. I think the far left and the far right both need to chill. It's getting ridiculous. However, I do love making fun of the Trumpers who put Trumps face on the American flag and drive around town. I think it looks funny.

I think politics and religion in general are pretty toxic. So I like to steer clear of those conversations on a message board because you can't truly gauge someone through text. Those are conversations that, in theory, should be talked about face to face. For me, this message board is a place I come to for some Jaguars banter since I live in Maryland where there aren't many Jags fans. Occasionally, I'll stop by this forum to see just how far off the ledge Ronster has gone or what StroudCrowd is mad about these days.
