It's the same principle. Athletes with good technique, drive and sheer will, sometimes fare much better than those with good measureables. It doesn't matter the sport or the position. OT Orlando Brown Jr. had a terrible Combine. He ran a 5.85/40, he only posted 14 reps on the bench press, his vertical was 19.5" and his broad jump was 82" and he's pretty darn good NFL player. So good in fact, he just got franchised and is looking to be the highest paid OT in NFL history. Your measurables would've totally eliminated someone like this. Remember OT Bruce Campbell? I do. The Raiders drafted him in the 4th round after he put up amazing Combine numbers. He was not very good in college, but his amazing workout (4.75/40, 34 reps on the bench press) made them believe he was an elite athlete and he would succeed in the NFL. He didn't. He lasted 3 seasons in the NFL and he stunk. The "underwear olympics" are highly overrated when it comes to evaluating players.
