NBC reporter insists Biden canceling Keystone Pipeline made no difference on US dependence on foreign oil

Peter Alexander said the pipeline wouldn’t have “changed anything”

NBC’s Chief White House correspondent Peter Alexander repeated White House talking points to his Republican guest during a MSNBC interview on Thursday. Alexander denied that the Keystone XL Pipeline would’ve had any impact on the United States’ dependence on foreign oil.

Americans consume a LOT of oil the single biggest factor is low OPEC prices. The more we can leverage them by using alternative sources, the cheaper our oil will be for us. So, the amount we get from the Keystone pipeline is less important than the pressure we put on OPEC by seeking energy independence.
Middle Eastern countries pay like 8 cents a gallon.

We just need to invade and take it all for ourselves. It's what Alexander would have done.
The Keystone XL pipeline takes very heavy oil out of Canada and brings it to US ports and it could go anywhere in the world from there.
If the pipeline performs as designed, it increases the supply of certain petroleum products worldwide.
But it would be Canadian oil. You know, foreign.
