It's no secret that is one of the biggest needs on defense.  Who do yall like in the draft?.  McDuffie is one of the best corners in the draft, if he falls to 33 I think he has to be in consideration there and would give us one of the best CB groups in the league imo as long as Campbell continues to improve.  I'm going to start looking into the corners a little more
Jalen Pitre and Daxton Hill are the two guys I always hear as the top slot corners in this draft.

I'll check them out.  A really good slot corner would be a nice upgrade for our D with Hutch.  A lot of plays went to the TE and the WR in the slot last year against our D

McDuffie is a favorite of mine.  Though I am no big fan of Tre Herndon, I think there are much bigger priorities than nickel/slot corner.

I disagree, slot corner is a huge need on D and was one of our biggest neakness

I don't see us using #33 on a cornerback, but I do think nickel corner and cornerback depth need to be addressed somewhere this off-season.  Herndon is a free agent and was terrible anyways.  I thought Claybrooks was terrible too.  He got abused when he had to play.  Last year, we were one injury away at cornerback from basically having to play with 10 people on defense.

Yeah, I'd rather not go corner at 33 but depending on how the draft falls, if one is at the top of our board I wouldn't be against it.  That was an area teams went after last year

Agreed. This is one of those positions that I believe should get a band-aid for this coming season. We have to address WR, TE, interior O-Line, DE/OLB, ILB and swing Tackle before I would worry about Nickel. Rudy Ford played some Nickel last season. I'm fine with him playing there this upcoming season and adding some competition late in the draft. I wouldn't bring Herndon back. He gets burned too much.
I would take a mid-later round flyer on Marcus Jones, an electric small CB/returner as a NB. It you watch his highlights, he is fun and has skills with his quicks.
PFFs 30th ranked player

30. CB/S JALEN PITRE, BAYLOR
Pitre was a massive reason for the Bears' defensive success in 2021. He led all defensive backs with 47 stops on the season while playing slot corner in Dave Aranda's defense.

I wonder what the odds of Pitte falling to the 3rd is? There's a chance being he's a nickel corner. He should be very interested in him there

Probably better than Daxton's. TDN has him as their 19th rated player. Still don't think we have the luxury of taking a slot corner there though.

It's not a luxury if you need one.  Go BPA regardless of position
After the Williams signing, we can let one come to us in the draft organically.
I think a safety may be on the radar again. Sterling Weatherford out of Miami [OH] seems like a fit if he's there in RD5 or RD6.

If they like him as a scheme fit in a specific role they may even pair up some of the RD6 picks for him in RD4.

He can move between FS and LB. Something Caldwell likes is aggressiveness and getting after the QB and run game. Can play single high or close to the line. Gives Wingard and Jenkins a run for their money ideally during training camp.

This kid fits that bill.
