Didn't Peterson say he had been looking at players before he interviewed for the Jags job?
I can't understand
We had 2 dozen season ticket holders here on this board that called out every step that he was [BLEEP] up as he did it
How can a guy supposedly steeped in a career of football being paid millions not figure the same [BLEEP] that was so obvious to literally thousands of fans??
What a joke that clown is. No excuse.
Yeah it is crazy. How do you waste last year the way we did?

Khan was watching old highlights and interviews from Jerry Jones, Jimmy Johnson and Troy Aikman and that's what happened. He was desperate to get a solution in here. Meyer went off the rails and off the rails fast. He didn't know what he was doing. You could see it on his face during the games, you could hear it in his voice during the post game and pre game conversations.
He was in over his head. Just like Nick Saban was. The NFL is a vastly different animal than the college world. Like Meyer said himself. "It's like every week you're facing Alabama". Yeah, what else was it supposed to be like dip [BLEEP]? Nothing is easy in the NFL.
At this point. I don't care anymore. Baalke is doing what he has to do to salvage his career, his image and his reputation. If he fails in Jacksonville with two years of this much cap and draft value he's destined to be holding somebody's scouting report and coffee at a lower position.
Can't fault the man for trying to do what he's doing at the moment. He just has to maintain this aggressiveness in the draft next week. I don't want to see any headscratchers with those picks at 1, 33, 65 & 70. He can [BLEEP] up anything else after RD3. I can live with him taking some chances on players after RD3. He has to absolutely land four starters with those selections. Hutchinson should be easy. I think he's going to be able to address WR, TE or G there at 33. I think at 65 and 70 he can address LB and WR or TE depending on what happened at 33.

I agree on Baalke as well. Owners will change players and coaches for a while to support their manager but eventually they will see they have to change the manager. This is where I believe Baalkie is at. He has to play nice or learn to make kick-butt coffee.(03-18-2022, 09:13 AM)MoJagFan Wrote: [ -> ]Yeah it is crazy. How do you waste last year the way we did?

Both deserve credit, but yeah, Pederson probably had A LOT to do with these siginings.
Baalke was here last year and those FA's signing were bad/mediocre.

It’s Likely a common theme that players wanted to play for Pederson

It will be nice if we ever get to a position where we don't have to rely on draft picks to be impact players as rookies. It should be a nice surprise when a rook does more than show flashes of what's to come rather than expecting them to be full time quality starters right off the bat.
Good teams don't even expect their first round picks have to hold down the fort most of the time. But of course, most good teams aren't perpetually picking in the top 5.

^^ yeah and it's also nice when a team that needs to play their rookies like that jags doesn't let them rot on the bench behind players we already know arent it.

And for that at least we should be grateful. Meyer wasn't an insane thing to try, but it's good that he wasn't just good enough to give him a second year. Been that way before...

I agree with you that last years free agency class was not pretty. But.. looking back at it (https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/2021/) Shaq Griffin was a pretty good one, Agnew was pretty damn good for what he is.. Harris/Jenkins are meh but not like they are breaking the bank or anything..
Looking back at that list tho, outside of maybe the TE's new england got there wasn't all that much to work with.

Agnew is going to be interesting going forward. He could be a nice weapon if he doesnt get lost in the mix with all these new players.

I would prefer Agnew to play the role that everyone thinks Shenault should. He had some big time plays on offense last year i'm sure a lot of us forget because of how dreadful the entire season was. I recall him having multiple KR TDs, a long like 60+ yard rush for a td? quite a few nice catches aswell. I think he could really be something more than a KR.

Last year's class was guys you need but not stars. We need them to be the floor of the starters not expect them to be the stars.

Agnew is a return specialist worthy of a small package of plays that incorporate him as a receiver.
I'd not try to force any more than that on him. Let him do what he does best with a small compliment of opportunities that doesn't present unwarranted risk of injury.
He and Shenault have vastly different skillsets and body types. They are not suited to a similar role at all.
Literally the only similarity is that they are both dangerous when given the ball in space - but how they utilize the space and create YAC is completely different.

Yes I wasn't trying to say that him and Shenault have the same ability/play style, but more so I meant guys who you get the ball to in space (screens/sweeps/etc) and they can get a lot of yards out of it. Shenault may do that by being shifts/hard to tackle, Agnew did that off pure speed.. but you get what I mean clearly from what you said.

I'd have him focusing on kicks, and then a couple times a game bring him in for a jet sweep or decoy to keep defenses guessing. He's too brittle for full-time work at the line of scrimmage.

I think the money guarantees a spot, but I don't know how much he plays. From what I've seen we have better players in MJJ and LS10 already and I expect a draft pick and Agnew to be in the rotation too. I mean, look at Jones's numbers, he's about as good on average as our recent Tight Ends.

Isn't it possible he was a good player buried on the touches list behind other guys like stud TE Darren Waller, Hunter Renfrow and Josh Jacobs?
