Raiders made all these moves but they’re likely still 3rd or 4th in the division.
Ramsey is younger, and at the time was far and away the best player at his position. Adams might be the best at his position, and he's older.

All this work to finish last in the division too, pretty crazy.
To be fair, they'd be the best team in many other divisions.

I have two questions. Why didn't we do this deal and did Aaron Rodgers sign off on this?
My guess is because by the time we make a playoff run his gonna be on the downside of his career. If we could get Metcalf for a similar deal that would be a different story.
There is no way I would ever trade the #1 overall pick for Davante freaking Adams.
A talented receiver will be available by the 33rd pick and if we are in the running for Metcalf then fine.
The #1 overall pick is off limits in the pick-for-player scenario except for a handful of QBs in the league and a couple non-QBs like Aaron Donald/TJ Watt imo. I'm all for trading down to accumulate more picks.

I'd take Metcalf in a heartbeat.

Apparently Rodgers DID know…. Which is insane.
This is what happens when the entire AFC West tries to catch up to Mahomes and Andy Reid. AFC West is loaded.
When you sign a $50M per year deal, you absolutely know. Or you're playing dumb.

Roms also got a year or so of Ramsey on a rookie deal, Raiders basically had to trade and sign. You don't do that deal just to let him play on the tag.

I still see the cellar in Hackett's future.
I think the biggest Q is whether KC can keep up with LA/oldLA. Mahomes' contract is slowly eroding away the talent on that team, and I haven't seen them doing much to keep the other teams from catching up to them.

yeah, not gonna want to be taking a 40-ish MM cap hit on a 33-34 year old WR in a few seasons.

Except they clearly have the best HC/QB combo and that's really all you need. Not to mention, they kind of have the young Tiger Woods effect going on.
When I was in college, I wrote a paper on the effect Tiger Woods had on the scores of the players who got paired up with him. They shot drastically worse when paired with him simply because of the pressure. Maybe that effect wears off for the Chiefs but they were minutes away from 3 straight Super Bowls.
With all the top WR's now extremely likely to be off the board by #33, if we stay put, I'm even more tempted to take TE Tre McBride. I believe he would represent way more value than reaching for a WR. IMO, McBride has a chance to become an elite pass catching TE in the NFL. To me, he looks like a young Zach Ertz. I'd also be very happy with Jelani Woods, although I believe he could be had a little later in the draft. He reminds me of Darren Waller. Pederson has always valued the TE position and it was a big part of his offenses. Engram is only on a 1 year deal and drafting an elite TE could be a priority.

I don't think trading a 1st or 1st/2nd for Metcalf is good idea.

I'd trade 33 for Metcalf but not the 1st overall pick and I've been one of the highest on Metcalf since he was at Ole Miss

Your right, apparently Rodgers did know. Kinda crazy when he made such a big deal about wanting to play with Adams and waiting to see what the Packers did with him before deciding.
The AFC West has gone nuts this year. Going to be brutal in that division and hopefully its like the AFC North a few years back when they would beat the hell out of each other.
$28m a year for a 29 year old WR. Dont get me wrong, Adams is probably the best WR in the league right now but damn thats a lot of money.
And i think the Packers basically have Lazard as their only WR on the roster. Let the others walk in FA. They have the #22 and #28 pick but you arent finding top WR's there so they are goinv to have to use one or both to get a Metcalf.
