Does this in any way hurt his reputation or his future bid to the HOF?

No.  In fact,  I applaud him.

These colleges are raking in millions of dollars on these young athlete's and if they take a dollar they can get in trouble.  Ridiculous.
Hurt him? Naw, it adds to his legend!
So, Taylor took $50,000 from Georgia and then later lost $3.6 million in the Tank Black scam. KARMA SUCKS !!!

Except Fred wasn’t scamming UGA.

I’m more amused by UGA paying players that much money and it took them so long to finally win another  National Championship! Laughing

Exactly. Money doesn't buy championships. Well unless it's owner money and you have a fraternity like setup but salute to Freddy T. Gator Nation

Sanford stadium in Georgia seats 90,000+  Those are all ticket sales.   These athlete's make 0 on that.  Some work on scholarships but most get paid nothing.   Injustice!
I bet this is WAY more common than they'll ever admit.

Yeppers it is.  As long as alumni have had egos, players have been paid under the table to play for their schools. The only thing the recent NIL has done is make it somewhat NCAA legal and put professional "bagmen" out of work.  I wonder if they can claim unemployment?

bagmen become brokers
Those relationships continue, they've just been legitimized now and can get corporate funding/backing
I guess that gives us an idea of least how much UF paid him.
Genius move. And they couldn't do anything about it since they didnt want to be exposed. HOF for sure.

HA !!!   Hilarious !!

I heard they paid Fred Taylor $50k in attempt to get him to come to UGA while they payed his son Kelvin Taylor $50k to go to UF.   joking aside, Kelvin actually had a good year as a junior at UF.

$$ doesn't buy championships?  so, you think Bama, Auburn, and LSU play by the rules?  Heck, we all know Cam's dad got $180k from Auburn and yes, they did win the championship.

Actually it was Mississippi States coach at the time Dan Mullen who sent the notorious bagman. He also reported it to the NCAA himself when Cam declined to play for him at MSU which I thought was funny.

"He couldn’t recall the exact sum, but said it was closer to $50,000."

Didn't happen like he says.  You're 18 and you get a bag full of money?  You'll know exactly how much you got. The lack of clarity is his dodge from responsibility.  If it did happen, he didn't get it from UGA. It would have been a third party booster with "clean" money..
The statute of limitations has expired, but I suspect the IRS will select him for a "random" audit..................for the next 5 years!
I would suspect there are a many more players, and it's funny that the players havent snitched. Just speculation
They all do it and have always done it.
It was unbelievable how college football has been pretty much making money like a professional sport all these years, and these players weren't getting paid officially. At the same time, the way things are now, it's a little wild and will take some getting accustom to.
